Pedro Belchior Costa

Pedro works as a senior creative executive for Amazon Studios and until last year was a community leader for the Sundance Institute Collab. At Amazon, he was part of the few executives hired by the Studios in Brazil in 2019 and collaborated with the operation in the country from its origins. Before Amazon, he directed two feature films, wrote five feature scripts and a play, collaborated on two TV comedy shows and directed internet variety shows on channels with more than 5 million subscribers. Pedro also holds a Law degree, three specializations in Entertainment Law and a master degree in Intellectual Property in Europe. For a few years he was a civil society representative at the United Nations and an advisor for the Brazilian Senate, regarding access to knowledge and copyrights. He worked as an entertainment lawyer and used to teach at some of Rio de Janeiro's most renowned universities, concerning film and law. He also used to teach writing and directing. Pedro was a volunteer on actions regarding access to knowledge and environmental protection. He leads the diversity Labs initiative among the Studios and Prime Video in Brazil. Pedro was a "finalist" for the Sundance Institute's Feature Film Program and a semi-finalist for the FRAPA Screenwriting Contest. He was selected twice in a roll for the French-Brazilian Screenwriting Workshop inside the French-Brazilian Cinema Festival and won scholarships for Sundance's Collab 12-Week Screenwriting Intensive and for Sundance's Directing Course. He is a current member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (iEmmy) and of the Brazilian Cinema Academy.
