'Star Trek: Picard' Star Leads 'E.T.' Meets 'Alien' Sci-Fi Thriller in First 'Xeno' Trailer [Exclusive]
Image
What if E.T. was less cute and cuddly, and instead resembled a razor-jawed H.R. Giger creature from Alien? And what if that alien's appetites tended more towards living flesh than delicious Reese's Pieces? Those questions are asked and answered in the new Collider-exclusive trailer for Xeno, a new science fiction adventure film starring Lulu Wilson. It's a heartfelt story of a girl and her gruesome alien pal like no other. Xeno will hit theaters on September 19.

In the new trailer, Wilson is Renee Rowan, a teenage girl who has an affinity for unlovable creatures, as evidenced by the snake living in her terrarium. But that affinity is going to be put to the test when she meets Xeno, a snarling quadropedal alien beast with a taste for livestock. Nevertheless, the two form a bond, which becomes a big problem when an alien-hunting government task force led by Jonathan Keyes...

Image
DC has produced many high-quality TV shows over the years, with key aspects that make many stand out, and the best of them offer variety for those looking for live-action DC series. While Marvel Studios has been dominating the movie landscape since the MCU started, DC has the upper hand on TV. After all, the Arrowverse's series soared when the Dceu faltered, showing how a shared universe on TV can work.

Recently, director Matt Reeves and his The Batman universe proved once again that is something DC should look into, as The Penguin perfectly expanded upon Robert Pattinson's Batman movie. James Gunn's DC Universe is well aware of the potential that live-action series have. The Dcu already has many announced shows in different stages of development, with Peacemaker season 2 being the franchise's first live-action series to debut, set for a 2025 release. With some shows being more fantastical while others are more grounded,...

The CW’s ‘Stargirl’ to End with Season 3
Image
The CW is losing another show. “Stargirl,” the channel’s teen superhero drama, will conclude with its ongoing third season, IndieWire has confirmed.

The show, which airs on Wednesdays, premiered its third season in August. The final episode will now premiere on December 7.

The news comes shortly after The CW was acquired by station group Nexstar, in a deal that has been accompanied by several cancellations and endings for many of the network’s series. In May, ahead of the official deal, the channel canceled over half of its scripted programming lineup. Nexstar officially took control in October, with plans to retool the famously unprofitable channel to focus on acquired programming and cheaper original series. The change was accompanied by CEO Mark Pedowitz stepping down from his post after more than a decade at the channel.

Last week, the channel’s “Nancy Drew” announced it would conclude with its next season,...

‘Stargirl’ to End With Season 3 at The CW
Image
“Stargirl” will come to an end at The CW with Season 3, Variety has confirmed.

The DC series is currently airing its third season, with the finale set to air on Dec. 7. This is the latest CW scripted series to announce it will come to an end following Nexstar’s completion of its acquisition of The CW in October. It was most recently announced that “Nancy Drew” would end with its fourth season, with both “The Flash” and “Riverdale” also coming to an end. The CW also canceled many of its scripted originals back in May.

“Stargirl has always held a special place in my heart for many reasons,” said series creator and executive producer Geoff Johns. “With all the brewing changes at the network, we were aware this was possibly the last season, so we wrote with that in mind and have delivered what I believe to be the best season of Stargirl yet,...

DC’s Stargirl is coming to an end. The series will conclude with its third season, which is currently airing on The CW.

New episodes will continue to air on Wednesdays through December 7.

The series, created by Geoff Johns, stars Brec Bassinger as high school student Courtney Whitmore, the character that started Johns’ career as a comic book writer when he created her in 1999, inspired by his sister who was killed in a 1996 plane crash.

The cancellation of DC’s Stargirl comes less than a month after Nexstar Media Group completed its acquisition of the network and is the latest series coming to an end. It joins the likes of series such as The Flash, Riverdale and Nancy Drew, which are also finishing.

Image
Editor's Note: The following contains Stargirl Season 3 spoilers.DC’s Stargirl, which recently launched its third season on The CW, follows teenager Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) in the small town of Blue Valley, Nebraska, as she steps into the world of superheroes and works on putting together the next team of heroes to protect the world as the Justice Society of America. Alongside her are her family and friends — Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson), Barbara Whitmore (Amy Smart), Mike Dugan (Trae Romano), Yolanda Montez (Yvette Monreal), Rick Tyler (Cameron Gellman), and Beth Chapel (Anjelika Washington) — who have each come into their own over the show’s two seasons, whether as superhero or supporter. However, of Courtney’s loved ones, the character that hasn’t been focused on enough is Yolanda, who has endured such a terrible string of events since the series began. This is particularly true when it comes to her home life,...

What Happened This Week

Image
Stars: Brec Bassinger, Luke Wilson, Amy Smart, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Trae Romano, Christopher Baker, Joel McHale | Created by Geoff Johns

What Happened This Week

Stargirl is finally back and based on the CW being sold to a new company, this might be the last season of this wonderful series. We have some changes this year as the always funny Joel McHale is now a regular cast member and mentor to Courtney and after last season’s joining of forces to stop Eclipso, a majority of Stargirl’s enemies have stuck around in Blue Valley in an attempt to reform for their past actions.

Welcome to the Neighborhood

Stargirl starts with a bang by using Neil Diamond’s Coming to America song to introduce the new status quo for the series, as Stargirl’s former enemies are now her new neighbors in Blue Valley. Cindy, when not helping the elderly carry their groceries,...

Seth Green Joins DC’s ‘Stargirl’ Season 3 Replacing Jim Gaffigan
Image
There will be a new voice for Thunderbolt when DC’s Stargirl returns for its third season on The CW this fall, as prolific actor Seth Green is set to take over the role. As reported by TVLine, the Robot Chicken creator will be replacing Jim Gaffigan in the role of the mystical, wish-granting genie, which made his debut in Season 2. Green, known for his acting roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Austin Powers movies, has voiced characters in numerous shows, including Family Guy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. The character of Thunderbolt appeared in two episodes of the second season, including the finale, which saw the mysterious being help Mike (Trae Romano) and his friend Jakeem (Alkoya Brunson) in their fight against Eclipso, turning the big bad into literal toast. It’s not yet known how big...

The Og Jsa — including The Flash aka Jay Garrick — gather for the most somber of occasions in this exclusive sneak peek from DC’s Stargirl.

In this week’s episode (airing Tuesday at 8/7c on The CW), when Eclipso (played by Nick Tarabay) takes aim at the Whitmore-Dugans, Pat (Luke Wilson) is reminded of painful memories from his past involving the original Jsa and their fight to take down the super-evil demon.

‘Stargirl 2×06: Summer School – Chapter Six’ Review
Image
Stars: Brec Bassinger, Luke Wilson, Amy Smart, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Trae Romano, Christopher Baker | Created by Geoff Johns

What Happened This Week

We are at the halfway point of season two of Stargirl, but this episode felt more like a season finale than just a regular episode! Stargirl has been lacking in the action department all season, but this episode delivered an action scene that took up half the episode and truly delivered some compelling combat between our heroes and villains.

Mike’s Journey

Mike is at a crossroads with the Justice Society as his father doesn’t believe he can handle being a superhero (and he doesn’t have any super powers) but he is intelligent and with Zeke’s help, could become the inventor on the team. Pat is being a father first though and won’t let Mike work on anything dangerous, hence the reason he...

‘Stargirl 2×05: Summer School – Chapter Five’ Review
Image
Stars: Brec Bassinger, Luke Wilson, Amy Smart, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Trae Romano, Christopher Baker | Created by Geoff Johns

What Happened This Week

It’s getting closer to Halloween, and it looks like Stargirl jumped into the theme of the season as this week’s episode is more horror than family friendly. The Justice Society fight their biggest fears, Eclipso finds a new host this week, and we actually get a tease of what this demon looks like. Spoilers, he looks like Spider-Man’s arch-nemesis, Venom.

Eclipso’s Reveal

The episode starts 10 years ago when a young Cindy awakes from her sleep due to a nightmare where her father finds her and attempts to “change” her. Luckily it was only a dream as her mother tells her that they are safe and will not be found by Cindy’s father. Way to jinx that because once Cindy’s mother leaves the room,...
