Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, the sequel series to the classic Disney Channel TV show Wizards of Waverly Place, is getting a second season, which is expected in the fall of 2025. The new show will continue to follow Justin Russo (David Henrie) training young wizard Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), now alongside his own sons, whose latent powers were recently awakened. Per Disney, the plot of season 2 is as follows:

Gomez is reprising her role as Alex Russo in the Wizards of Waverly Place spinoff, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, this fall. In the original series, the Russo family children, Alex (Gomez), Justin (David Henrie) and Max (Jake T. Austin), learn how to use their powers from their mortal dad, Jerry (David DeLuise.) It ran on Disney Channel from 2007-2012 for four seasons. In the series finale, Alex wins the family wizard competition and gains all of the family powers.

Nickelodeon just revealed that music star Tyla will host the event live on June 21 from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. The show will air live on Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, the Nick Jr. channel, MTV2 and CMT and Nickelodeon channels around the world at 8pm Et/Pt.

Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar lead the nominations this year with four mentions each. There are 35 categories in which fans can vote in, beginning on Thursday.

Green goo and big stars are joining forces once again for the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, which officially unveiled its host and nominees on Thursday.

Grammy-winning artist Tyla will take the reins as host when the show airs live on June 21 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.

The slime-filled spectacle will simulcast across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, Nick Jr., MTV2, and CMT, as well as international Nickelodeon channels, where fans can watch their favorite TV, movie and sports stars get covered in green glop.

This year’s nominees include a fresh batch of first-timers such as Gracie Abrams, Zach Bryan, Jordan Chiles, Frankie Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Doechii, Keith Lee, Chappell Roan, Shaboozey, Shohei Ohtani, and Florence Pugh.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, a spinoff of the Disney Channel Original Series Wizards of Waverly Place, was renewed for Season 2 in March 2025. Just weeks later, Disney already has an exciting update to share with fans.

Disney announced via X post that Season 2 of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is officially in production. In the pilot episode of the Wizards of Waverly Place sequel series, it was revealed that David Henrie’s Justin Russo was fired as the headmaster at the wizarding school due to the mysterious accident, which is no longer a mystery.

The latest episode of the Disney+ series saw Billie (Janice Leann Brown) using a potion to enter Justin’s mind and discovering that Justin’s underling, who eventually took over as headmaster when the eldest Russo was fired, sabotaged him. Selena Gomez is reflecting on her time on Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, Disney+’s sequel series to Wizards of Waverly Place.

The Emmy-nominated actress took to her Instagram to share a carousel of photos from the show’s set of herself with David Henrie and castmembers.

“Nothing will ever beat making little kids laugh,” she wrote in the caption. “Thank you @disneywizardsseries for making the little girl in me so happy!! Hope you guys watch!!”

Gomez guest starred in the pilot episode, “Everything is Not What it Seems,” when she introduced her brother, Justin (Henrie) to Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), the young wizard who needs training from the best in order to save the world. The Only Murders in the Building star will appear in more episodes throughout the first season to move the story forward (though it’s unclear how many).

For years, the two friends would have wine nights and discuss what their characters would be up to as they grew up. “We kept talking about it!” Gomez tells Variety at the “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” premiere in Los Angeles.

“It was so organic. We never felt any pressure,” Henrie says. “The original fan should know there was never a mandate to be like, ‘We have to make this show, now’s the time to make the show.’ It just came to a point where we were like, ‘Maybe we got something here.'”

The two brought their revival idea to Disney and the full-fledged reboot, “Wizards Beyond,” received a 21-episode order for its first season.
