‘Scrubs’ Revival Adds John C. McGinley in Latest Cast Return
John C. McGinley
ABC’s Scrubs revival is continuing the rebuild of the orginal series’ core cast.

John C. McGinley is the latest actor to (re)join the show. He’ll reprise his role as the sharp-tongued (but secretly bighearted) Dr. Perry Cox. He joins fellow returnees Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison and Judy Reyes in the cast.

McGinley’s return means that five of the show’s seven regulars for much of Scrubs’ 2001-10 run on NBC and ABC are back in the fold for the revival, due to premiere during the 2025-26 season. Neil Flynn (the Janitor) and Ken Jenkins (Dr. Bob Kelso) were the other regulars.

Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence and the cast had long discussed a reunion or revival before ABC put the project into development in December 2024. Braff signed on to reprise his role as Dr. John “Jd” Dorian in May, and Chalke (Dr. Elliot Reid) and Faison (Dr.

‘The Office’ Spinoff ‘The Paper’ Renewed Ahead of Premiere
Sabrina Impacciatore, Oscar Nuñez, Domhnall Gleeson, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Tim Key, Melvin Gregg, Ramona Young, and Chelsea Frei in The Paper (2025)
Peacock is already ordering more Paper.

The Paper, the streamer’s spinoff series to NBC’s classic comedy The Office, has been renewed one day ahead of its release date. The series hails from former Office showrunner Greg Daniels and Michael Koman. All 10 episodes will be available to stream on Peacock on Thursday.

The renewal was announced on the Today show Wednesday morning. The move is a big vote of confidence from NBC. A source says Daniels has already started ideas for the second season and the network wanted to keep up the momentum. The early renewal will also give the show a regular cadence, so it can premiere same time next year.

Sky has acquired season two exclusively in the UK and Ireland.

The Paper sees the documentary crew from The Office landing on a new subject as it follows the publisher (Domhnall Gleeson) and staff of a historic but struggling newspaper in Toledo,...

Unifrance Rendez-Vous Le Havre Takeaways From Its Big Series, U.S. Market Implosion and How Measuring Streamer Audiences Is Getting Slightly Easier
Image
The Unifrance Rendez-Vous TV market in Le Havre came to a close on Thursday with a celebration of animation, namely the latest season and 55th anniversary of the beloved classic series “Barbapapa: One Big Happy Family.”

While animation has traditionally been one of France’s biggest exports, international sales continue to wane for local toon shows – one of the symptoms perhaps of a fast-changing global market whose reverberations are being felt in Normandy.

As Unifrance President Gilles Pélisson explained to Variety ahead of this year’s event, “independent production and distribution face increasing pressure as they compete with streamers and consolidated media groups.

‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Finale Recap: Who Is the New York Ripper?
Image
Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for “And Justice for All…,” the Season 1 finale of “Dexter: Resurrection,” now streaming on Paramount+.

Longtime fans of “Dexter” should be pleased with the Season 1 finale of “Resurrection,” after missing the mark with the ending of the original series (and with the recent “New Blood”) — but this season-ender capped off the franchise’s return to form. With a finale that featured thumbprints, hallucinations in vaults and more father-son angst than a Shakespearean tragedy, it was solid enough to warrant more Dexter adventures in Manhattan.

Leave it to Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) to get...

Why Isn’t ‘Big Brother’ Airing on Sunday?
Image
Season 27 of Big Brother is barreling toward its finale, but viewers should note an immediate schedule shake‑up: the show won’t air on Sunday, September 7, or Sunday, September 14. Here’s why this shift is happening—and what’s next.

Typically, new episodes of Big Brother air Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 8/7 c — with the Wednesday installment running 90 minutes, and Sunday and Thursday episodes clocking in at an hour. This fall‑season rhythm changes due to big programming events. On Sunday, September 7, CBS airs the Video Music Awards, prompting Big Brother to move to Tuesday, September 9 at 8/7 c. Then on Sunday, September 14, the Emmys take over the timeslot — preempting the show entirely.

‘Big Brother 27’: Mickey Lee’s Shocking Exit Ends the Pre-Jury Phase
Image
The September 4, 2025, live eviction episode of Big Brother 27 marked the end of the pre-jury phase with the surprising ouster of Mickey Lee. What began as a heated week filled with arguments, fractured alliances, and high-stakes competitions ended with Mickey blindsided in a near-unanimous vote.

Chaos After the Veto Ceremony

The week was defined by Head of Household Keanu Soto’s tense decision-making. After Morgan Pope saved herself with the Power of Veto, Keanu nominated Ashley Hollis alongside Vince Panaro and Mickey Lee. This sparked fiery confrontations, with Ashley and Rachel Reilly doubling down on accusations that Keanu was arrogant and disrespectful. ‘The Lowdown’ Review: Ethan Hawke Rips Through Sterlin Harjo’s Mesmerizing Southern Noir
Image
Lee Raybon, Ethan Hawke’s self-proclaimed “truthstorian” at the center of Sterlin Harjo’s swirling Southern noir, is so often bruised, bloodied, or bandaged that when friends and family express concern over his disheveled state, their dismay is almost as shocking as his beatings. Isn’t he… always like this? Doesn’t he saddle up next to scoundrals and pick a fight? Isn’t that part of his roguish, renegade charm?

Answering in reverse order, it is, he does, and he’s not. The shock shown by those closest to Lee reminds us that while he may be our bullheaded, behatted hero — sifting through seedy criminals and seedier authorities to find the cold, plain truth, no matter the cost — he’s also just a guy. A writer. A citizen. A father. Within “The Lowdown,” Lee regularly has to be reminded of these facts, of his own mortality, or risk losing...

This week on Big Brother, Keanu’s Hoh was nothing short of a trainwreck, and at the top of Thursday’s live eviction, his close ally Vince was in major danger of going home.
