Michelle Yeoh was born in Ipoh, Malaysia. She's the daughter of Janet Yeoh & Kian Teik Yeoh. She's of Hokkien descent, speaking English and Malay before Chinese. A ballet dancer since 4, she moved to London to study at the Royal Academy as a teen. After a brief dance career, she won the Miss Malaysia beauty pageant title in and the Miss Moomba beauty pageant title in Melbourne, Australia in the early 1980s. Her first on camera work was a 1984 commercial with martial arts star Jackie Chan. In 1985, she began making action movies with D&B Films of Hong Kong. She was first billed as Michelle Khan, then Michelle Yeoh. Never a trained martial artist, she relied on her dance discipline and on-set trainers to prepare for martial arts action scenes.

Even though they divorced in 1992, she's close to Poon's second wife and a godmother to his daughter. When she returned to acting, she became very popular w/ Chinese audiences. She later became known to Western audiences through role in the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) and in the phenomenally successful Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000). She turned down a role in a sequel to The Matrix (1999).

She has her own production company, Mythical Films. She trained with the Shen Yang Acrobatic team for her role in The Touch (2002), an English-language film she both starred in and produced. She hopes to use her company to discover and nurture new film-making talent. She also aspires to act in roles that combine both action and deeper spiritual themes.

British-Malaysian television host, actor and model Henry Ewan Golding was born in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, to Margaret Likan and Clive Golding. His father is English and his mother is Malaysian. His mother is from the Iban people, an Indigenous group in Sarawak, and Henry completed the bejalai, an Iban rite of passage, in the jungles of Borneo.

James Wan (born 26 February 1977) is an Australian film producer, screenwriter and film director of Malaysian Chinese descent. He is widely known for directing the horror film Saw (2004) and creating Billy the puppet. Wan has also directed Dead Silence (2007), Death Sentence (2007), Insidious (2010), The Conjuring (2013) and Furious 7 (2015).

Before his success in the mainstream film industry, he made his first feature-length film, Stygian, with Shannon Young, which won "Best Guerrilla Film" at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival (MUFF) in 2000.

Prior to 2003, Wan and Leigh Whannell had begun writing a script based for a horror film, citing inspiration from their dreams and fears. Upon completing the script, Leigh and James had wanted to select an excerpt from their script, later to be known as Saw (2004), and film it to pitch their film to studios. With the help of Charlie Clouser, who had composed the score for the film, and a few stand-in actors, Leigh and James shot the film with relatively no budget. Leigh had decided to star in the film as well.

After the release of the full-length Saw (2004), the film was met with overwhelming success in the box office both domestically and internationally. The film ended up grossing 55 million dollars in America, and 48 million dollars in other countries, totaling over $103 million worldwide. This was over 100 million dollars profit, over 80 times the production budget. This green-lit the sequel Saw II (2005), and later the rest of the Saw franchise based on the yearly success of the previous installment. Since its inception, Saw (2004) has become the highest grossing horror franchise of all time worldwide in unadjusted dollars. In the United States only, Saw (2004) is the second highest grossing horror franchise, behind only the Friday the 13th (1980) films by a margin of $10 million.

Ronny Chieng is a Chinese comedian and actor born in Malaysia and raised in New Hampshire and Singapore. He started performing stand-up in 2009 after graduating with a dual degree in Law and Commerce from The University of Melbourne, Australia. His act caught the attention of the esteemed Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, where he performed in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016. There he was noticed by comedians and talent scouts who helped him launch sold-out stand-up tours in Australia, Hong Kong, and Canada.

Trevor Noah was among the many who loved Ronny's work at the JFL Festival and hired him for Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show' where he's been a correspondent since 2015. Back in Australia, Ronny co-created and starred in the sit-com 'Ronny Chieng: International Student', which aired in the US on Comedy Central and was based on his law school experiences. In 2016, he was named one of Variety's 10 Comics to Watch. In 2018, Ronny starred as Eddie Cheng in the blockbuster Warner Bros. film 'Crazy Rich Asians'. Genteel-looking British actress Jenny Seagrove distinguished herself as a sensitive heroine during the 1980s in plush TV romances such as The Woman in White (1982), Diana (1984) and, in particular, the adaptations of Barbara Taylor Bradford's A Woman of Substance (1984) wherein she played Emma Harte, and Hold the Dream (1986) as Paula Fairley. In later years she would be highly recognizable for her role as Jo Mills, QC in the British crime mystery series Judge John Deed (2001).

Jenny enjoyed a privileged childhood though it was marked with sadness. Born Jennifer Ann Seagrove on Independence Day, 1957 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, her father ran an import-export firm and her mother was a British aristocrat who suffered a debilitating stroke when Jenny was less than a year old. At age 9, Jenny attended a girls' boarding school in England and appeared in school plays.

Initially interested in a culinary career, she opted for acting instead and trained at the Bristol Old Vic. After leaving school, Seagrove met Indian-born Madhav Sharma, a little-known actor-director, but the marriage was not a happy one (1984-1988). She also had a long term relationship with director Michael Winner of "Death Wish" fame, whom she met on the set of the Agatha Christie mystery Appointment with Death (1988).

Jenny is known fondly respected for her superb theatre work in England. To date, Jenny's film career has not match her impressive stature on stage or TV. Nevertheless, she made her British film debut as "Anna" in the Jeremy Irons Polish political vehicle Moonlighting (1982) directed by Jerzy Skolimowski. She subsequently appeared as a quirky Scottish lass in the film Local Hero (1983) starring Burt Lancaster, and then was given the top female role as Sophie in the period adventure comedy Nate and Hayes (1983) (aka Nate and Hayes) starring Tommy Lee Jones and Michael O'Keefe as O'Keefe's fiancée.

She was part of an all-star suspect line-up in the Agatha Christie whodunnit Appointment with Death (1988) starring Peter Ustinov as sleuth Hercule Poirot and followed that with the Jeremy Irons starrer A Chorus of Disapproval (1989). In the United States, Jenny was seen in an unsympathetic light as the evil nanny in The Guardian (1990), directed by William Friedkin and appeared in the comedy caper Bullseye! (1990), filmed in England and Scotland.

In later years, Jenny was given several starring film roles. She played the title missionary in Miss Beatty's Children (1992); co-starred with Anthony Edwards in the romantic comedy Don't Go Breaking My Heart (1999); played an eccentric widow who forms a bond with a teenage runaway in Zoe (2001); and played a woman who hid an escaped Russian POW during World War II in Another Mother's Son (2017).

Remy Hii began his career on stage at the age of 19 with the Queensland Theatre Company in the award winning play The Estimator. Television roles soon followed, and three years of full time study with the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney, Australia where he graduated in 2011.

Weeks after graduating, Hii was cast in Alex Proyas' film 'Paradise Lost' as a fallen Angel alongside Bradley Cooper's Lucifer. The production however was shutdown citing budgetary reasons. Immediately following, Hii appeared playing the true story of Van Tuong Nguyen, an Australian sentenced to death for drug trafficking in Singapore. For his role as Van in Better Man, Remy was nominated for the AACTA Award for Best Lead Actor in a Television Drama, and won the Graham Kennedy Award For Most Outstanding Newcomer.

Hii was introduced to international audiences as Prince Jingim, heir to the Kublai Khan's Mongolian Empire in the Netflix/Weinstein Original production Marco Polo. Remy underwent rigorous physical training for the role including martial arts, archery, horse riding, and performed his own stunts on the show.

Hii returned to the stage in the Sydney Theatre Company production of The Golden Age in 2016.

Tony Award-winning English actor Michael Gough, best known for playing the butler Alfred Pennyworth in the first four Batman (1989, 1992, 1995 & 1997) movies and for playing the arch-criminal Dr. Clement Armstrong in The Avengers (1961) episode "The Cybernauts", was an accomplished performer on both stage and screen. He was nominated twice for Tony Awards, in 1979 for Best Featured Actor in a Play for Alan Ayckbourn's "Bedroom Farce" and in 1988 in the same category for Hugh Whitemore's "Breaking the Code", winning in 1979. Though he never achieved on the small screen and silver screen what he did in the theater, Gough's career in television and movies spanned sixty-plus years over eight decades. Michael Gough died at age 94 on March 17, 2011 at his home near Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.

Jill Bennett was born on 24 December 1931 in Penang, Malaysia. She was an actress and writer, known for The Nanny (1965), For Your Eyes Only (1981) and Moulin Rouge (1952). She was married to John Osborne and Willis Hall. She died on 4 October 1990 in Kensington, London, England, UK.

Pik-Sen Lim was born to Chinese parents in Penang, Malaysia. She came to London at the age of sixteen to learn drama. Her big break came in 1964 when she appeared in the long-running hospital drama series Emergency-Ward 10 (1957) where she was cast as the first Chinese nurse on British television. One of the series writers was Don Houghton, who also originated Take the High Road (1980), who became her husband until his death in 1991. Their daughter, Sara Houghton, is also an actress and they appeared on stage together in 2005 as mother and daughter in the play 'Three Thousand Troubled Threads.' Pik-Sen's best known television role is probably as the vehement Chinese communist in the comedy series Mind Your Language (1977). She also appeared in Doctor Who (1963) in an episode written by her husband and in the 2000s says she is being recognized all over again for her role in the TV sketch show Little Britain (2003)

Born in Kuching, Malaysia, he graduated from the Drama and Cinema Department of the Chinese Cultural University of Taiwan and worked as a theatrical producer and TV director. His second feature film, Vive L'Amour (1994), won the Golden Lion (best picture) at the 1994 Venice Film Festival. His idiosyncratic oeuvre continues to enthrall audiences worldwide.

Peter Arne was for a short time the perfect villain in British film. After a couple of roles in war movies (The Purple Plain (1954) and The Cockleshell Heroes (1955)) and a Tarzan movie (Tarzan and the Lost Safari (1957)) he became a villain in Strangers' Meeting (1957). From than on he continued to play sinister types in The Moonraker (1958), Intent to Kill (1958), Breakout (1959), Conspiracy of Hearts (1960), The Hellfire Club (1961) and The Secret of Monte Cristo (1961). He was very convincing as a Cromwell officer, an Italian camp commander or a Nazi officer. Several times he had sword fights as a devious count. In 1962 he was a pirate sidekick of Christopher Lee in The Pirates of Blood River (1962), but a new kid on the block by the name of Oliver Reed challenged him and killed him halfway through the picture. It seemed like a symbolic fight because for a while Oliver Reed played the roles in Hammer Pictures that Peter Arne could have played and Arne moved to TV roles. His days as a leading actor were over and he continued work in TV and in bit parts in features. Sometimes directors he worked with before brought him back for a little role. In 1972 he got a nice break with "The Stallion", a TV movie in which he starred with a horse. He was also in a couple of Blake Edwards movies. He became an antique dealer with his sister as a sideline. He was murdered at the age of 63 shortly after being cast in Doctor Who (1963).

Carmen Soo was born on 14 October 1977 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is an actress, known for Kahit isang saglit (2008), Dead Mine (2012) and Ghost Child (2013).

Avuncular character actor Glynn Edwards became best known to TV audiences as the gullible bartender Dave who presided over Arthur Daley's favourite watering hole in Minder (1979). He was born in Malaya the son of a rubber planter and brought up by his grandparents in Portsmouth. He started acting professionally in his 20s while living in Trinidad and working as assistant manager of a country club. Upon his return to England Glynn enrolled at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Upon graduation, he joined Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop for ten years. Under Littlewood's direction he acted on the West End and had a leading role on Broadway in Brendan Behan's play The Hostage. His screen career began in the mid-50s when he began enjoying regular employment in British television as supporting or guest actor, often cast as police constables or detectives. Among his numerous credits have been Sir Francis Drake (1961), Z Cars (1962), The Baron (1966) and The Saint (1962). Infrequent film appearances included a small role in the epic Zulu (1964) (Glynn recalled in a later interview that a series of Kelloggs commercials, also filmed in Africa, turned out to be ten times more profitable). After Minder finished in 1994, Glynn went into semi- retirement, splitting his time between Spain, Edinburgh and a houseboat on the River Thames. He was formerly married to George & Mildred (1976) actress Yootha Joyce and had a son from his second marriage to Christine Pilgrim.
