He made his first films at age 11 with his neighborhood friends. They
were shot on silent 8mm film, edited with scissors and scotch tape, and
had a soundtrack recorded live with the group gathered around a
cassette tape recorder, live while watching the edited movie projected
on a screen. These films contained matte paintings, animated props,
visual effects, stop-motion, and pyrotechnics.
