Bob Lange is a founding partner of the entertainment law firm, Kleinberg Lange Cuddy & Carlo, LLP. He represents numerous accomplished actors, hosts, directors, writers, television and motion picture production companies, producers, showrunners and executives in the entertainment industry. Bob has extensive transactional experience, both as a lawyer and executive, including more than 25 years in private practice, and 7 years as a motion picture and television executive. In addition to traditional scripted television and film, he has developed an extensive expertise in the field of reality television, representing several important companies and key talent. For example, Bob represented Authentic Entertainment on its sale to Endemol, and more recently represented ThinkFactory Media in its acquisition by ITV. He has enjoyed long lasting relationships with many clients and often provides significant business and strategic advice, in addition to legal advice.
Bob's legal career began at Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp in 1980. Five years later he was appointed President of Empire Entertainment, an independent motion picture production and distribution company that produced over 20 pictures during his tenure and established U.S. domestic theatrical distribution operations and an extensive international sales network. He later served as Executive Vice President of Weintraub Entertainment Group, where he was the senior business executive in the motion picture, television and concert fields. Following his tenure as an executive, Bob co-founded Kleinberg & Lange in 1992 (the predecessor of his current firm) with partner Ken Kleinberg. The firm has become one of the premiere entertainment law firms in the United States and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2017.
In 2015, 2017, and 2020, Mr. Lange was named a "Power Lawyer" by The Hollywood Reporter; in 2020 he was named to Variety's "Legal Impact Report;" he has been named a "Super Lawyer" by Southern California Super Lawyers magazine since 2015 (being selected to its "Top 100 Southern California Super Lawyers" list in 2016 and 2017); and, in 2013, was listed by Variety as a top "Talent Dealmaker."
Since 2018, he has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for motion pictures and television law, as well as music law, placing him among the top entertainment lawyers in the nation. In 2020, he was named "Lawyer of the Year" by The Best Lawyers in America in the category of Entertainment - Music. He has earned the highest rating ("AV Preeminent") for legal ability and ethics by Martindale-Hubbell and is recognized as a "Top Rated Lawyer in Intellectual Property Law."
Bob is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and is a member of the American Bar Association, California Bar Association and Beverly Hills Bar Associations, as well as a member of the ABA Forum on Entertainment and Sports. He is married with three children.
