Burn Your Name

For what it is, an independent drama, this film works really well. A promising start to the careers of all involved.

I admitt, I like Justin Turnbull and the performance of Christa Andersen is not awfull. Lou Ticzon is only the hinge between the two main characters, not very convince about his role , like the director.

The story is simplistic and pretty too ambitious becoming, to final, so vague than entire noble message is in mist. Or just lost.

Two friends, a lesbian roommate, a romance who sounds unrealistic against noble efforts to convince the viewer than it deserves a chance.

And the last minutes making the things more confuse. But, sure, a short film ( not ignoring than almost a hour can be too much in this case ) who reminds more students improvisations than a real coherent story.

But, nice ( I not ignore than I am more than indulgent in this case ).

This falls flat on so many levels it is impossible to recount. There isn't even any redemption to save the poor dialogue and completely ridiculous scenario. There is no connection between any of the main characters and it is palpable throughout. You could almost make a case that the two love interests had some chemistry except for the fact that real people do not force such immediate fake intimacy and are much more circumspect and careful. I think it is great that indie films are making huge inroads and I want to see more of them. This project is not worthy, mostly due to poor lines, lack of empathy, and bad direction. The idea is sound enough, the portrayal.... Abyssmal.

I watched this film knowing it was not high budget . If you look at as a smaller endeavor without "A" List actors and just focus on what it is you will not be disappointed. Also it's on prime video so it is priced well....
