Episode #1.8

Nice investigation. The main character is on the case of a teacher who have inappropriate behavior with their students. Its follow by an intuuition of him. Its pretty good to follow and we can have some reasons of behind that behavior. Still interesting and the relationship between the main character and the girlfriend. Its still intriguing me even if i found that they dont go to deep in the psychology of the killers but good anyway.

Despite the anachronism of a prisoner incarcerated in 1969 using the Seinfeld-ism "yada, yada, yada," it's an interesting episode.

The most significant focus of this episode is Holden's becoming aware of an elementary principal who disciplines his kids by tickling their feet, then giving them nickels. There is considerable controversy. Many parents and teachers feel he is just a good guy with a different method of approaching students. Others are very concerned. The point is that Holden has no business putting himself into this controversy, but he doesn't recognize. He has developed a big wall of jealousy with Debbie and this is darkening his world. She has a lab partner whom he doesn't know and who she says she just works with. Billl and Wendy are starting to worry about him. He is also in trouble with his supervisor who has green-lighted their work. It should be interesting to see how this shakes out. The principal is a pompous ass. Having been in education for over 40 years, I believe that his attitude toward his own methods would be educationally suicidal. The conclusion of this episode makes us aware that Holden could be in big trouble.

"Episode 1.8" of Mindhunter, directed by Andrew Douglas and written by Joe Penhall, marks a shift in focus as the Behavioral Science Unit starts applying their profiling techniques to new and disturbing cases, while also dealing with internal dynamics and personal struggles. This episodes sees Holden being invited to speak to a school. During his talk, he is approached by a teacher, Janet Ebner, who has concerns about Principal Roger Wade's behavior. She tells Holden that Wade likes to tickle children's feet and give them nickels afterwards. Ford is very suspicious about this. Bill however, refuses to investigate with Ford. Bill considers the activity weird, but doesn't believe it is a crime. Despite this, Ford decides to investigate it on his own.

Ford brings Gregg Smith with him to speak with Wade. After speaking with him, Wade insists that what he does with the kids is a positive experience for the kids and makes school discipline more enjoyable.

After speaking to Wade, Gregg tells Shepard what he saw. Shepard then advises Ford to drop his investigation into the principal.

Meanwhile, Ford returns to Oregon to interview Jerry Brudos, who is more talkative this time. Debbie invites Ford to her graduate class, where he catches her in a compromising position with Patrick, her project partner. Angered, Ford leaves the graduate class in a fury. Afterwards, Ford gets a call from the school saying the principal is going to be fired.

The dialogue, as usual, adds a lot to the story and plot of the episode. It helps add the suspense, which keeps many people enjoying the show. Also, the character's interactions and dynamics help add value to the episode.

Themes explored in this episode include the abuse of power, boundaries, and relationships. Ford has lost the trust he had in his relationship, leading him to be upset when he suspects Debbie is cheating on him. Another theme is boundaries, particularly if someone does not respect your boundaries.
