Donut County

Charming graphics but very poor gameplay loop. Not worth your time or money unless you're looking for an easy platinum trophy. I was genuinely interested in this game though, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. I was left disappointed by its gameplay mostly. Story is written for 14 year old girls it looks like. Redeeming qualities are the music and art design.

A big thanks to both Justin Roiland for the recommendation in High on Life and to gamepass for supplying a game like this that I otherwise wouldn't of played in a loooong time since my game backlog is overbearing. It really is such a wacky, funny game that gave me super chilled out vibes. Mira and BK are two great characters who butt heads regarding mysterious holes popping up and swallowing the town.

Fun, chill gameplay with your occasional secret thing to do, which is how you get achievements in this game. Some fun/funny highlights was losing to the boss battle, making secret soup, and the wacky item descriptions. I honestly just wish the game was much longer because I was definitely left wanting more from the game (I clocked in at about 5 hours), but hey, this game is short and sweet. Definitely check it out if this sounds interesting in the slightest.

Donut County is just nothing more than an average game. At first, it did seem to could be a fun game. But it can come out dated. The story doesn't have much to offer. The most the game would be about is a device that brings the world underground created by the raccoons. That's it. The gameplay feels more of an app game than a legitimate video game. Where you play as a hole and suck in things. The dialogue is too trendy. And the characters are poorly executed that can often seem mean spirited. At least taken example for BK. He just created the device for donut delivery so he can get himself a drone. I'm not saying the game is terrible. There are some redeeming qualities for the game. The graphics are fine and has some redeemable moments from the story's mistake, like the boss. If you're thinking of playing this game, I would highly recommend buying it on the app instead of playing it on the console. Because that's exactly what the game feels like. An app game where it can be datedly trendy and that the gameplay feels like one. Again, it's not a terrible game. It's there are better games from Annapurna.
