Street of a Thousand Pleasures

For a film filled with big-chested nude women, this had to be one of the most boring films that I have ever seen, and did not deserve a release on Something Weird's usually interesting DVD label. Why? Well, for a film such as this, which is as skimpy on plot as the women are of clothes in it, something needed to be done to jazz things up. It sure wasn't the quickly-tiring camera tricks, in which 'You the viewer can get up close' to the women. That got old after about the first 15 minutes. So did hearing the man given the pleasure of touring the slave market say 'Beautiful' about 100 times. Not recommended except to the most die-hard breast fans.

This movie is a tit lover's dream come true. But unfortunately that's all it is. It appears the producers hired just about all the working figure models who didn't mind posing completely nude to be in this film. The plot, such as it is, is a mere throwaway just to get as many scenes of naked women on the screen for the allotted running time. The plot, what little there is of it, concerns a guy who saves the life of a sheik and gets hired as a bodyguard and gets his choice of a companion from the sheik's harem. So much for plot. The rest of the time is spent touring the harem. There are some very fine bodies present such as Uschi Diagrd and Malta, just to name a few - so it's not entirely a waste but if you're looking for more than what I have described, make a beeline for the video store in search of a nudie movie with a better and more sustained plot - if that's your bag.

This film will appeal to those who enjoy large breasted women. Back in the early 70's, before people were obsessed with being thin, and before average women were too health conscious, women were more rounded, including their breasts (thankfully). This movie is a paeon to those days when women weren't ashamed to be 5 lbs overweight. Not that all of the women in this movie fit that description. Some are voluptuous by the standards of any era. This film has a calvacade of most anonymous women (Uschi Digert and Malta being two exceptions) flaunting their assets. No plot, but who cares.

I just saw the 4 min. trailer and the 76 min. full movie. I was blown off my feet. It is just amazing what great crap could be produced in the 1970's - and this is a compliment to many "Sultan-of-Sleaze" directors and actresses. This must be a kinky spin-off from the flower-power generation. There is a story about harems and sheiks but that is not very important. It's all an excuse to make a sex/porn movie. The most amazing about this X-rated 1972 movie is the very explicit sex and nudity, with some BDSM connotations and the exotic location of the Middle-East. This combination is just plain hot. Watching the trailer with a good whiskey, I would rate it 6 or 7; this is above-average stuff in the genre (I have seen some). I do not advise you to see the full movie (it's a waste of whiskey). On the other hand, this movie deserves cult-status; it is so bad that it becomes good. I will rate it a 2 and I hope it ranks in the bottom-100 movie list for the cult-freaks. My advice; the trailer is a must-see, the movie is a no-no.

This is definitely a one-track movie. Do not watch this with your significant other. This single movie from the Seventies probably has more screen-time of naked chicks than the entire hollywood film industry in the last decade of films! The down-side is that the quality of the picture is not good at all. It shows its age as the print that SWV used as the master reel looks like it has not been stored or treated well over the past thirty years. But if you're a breast man: sit back and enjoy...
