The movie is a rundown of the actions of Chapekar brothers, nothing more, nothing less. Though the screenplay follows the chronological order of the Historical events, the presentation is patchy and insipid(probably,a result of the shoestring budget). The brutal and cunning British policies, the readiness of sacrifice, the undue hatred for the Maharashtrian Brahmins, the backdrop of old Pune and the culture and relevant aspects are depicted well. Personally, I prefer such movies that stick to the Historical events without any 'masala' or melodrama ! The actors, from the theatrical background, have played their respective roles to perfection. The background score is average but some traditional/folk lines are sung naturally midst the movie.

Though not a gem, a valuable addition in the (already scarce) movies about the revolutionary Indians.

The straightforward story of the murder of the governor by the Chapekar brothers, in Pune. This historical event is sensitively presented along with enough of a background, historically authentic details with respect to locations, costumes, props and songs become small but rich details that make the film what it is. Notbonly does the socio-cultural life of the Pune brahmin community come through but also the anger and passion of the brothers which holds the tension through. Devoid of the usual over the top drama, irrelevant songs/music the film allows the viewer to become a part of the narrative. Most of not all actors a d actresses were trained in theatre and the few amateurs all pull their weight in roles big and small to make this film a wonderfully watchable film. The background score, camera work and editing are excellent, making them disappear seamlessly into the film. The film is extremely important for its genre, due to its high level of authenticity and historical correctness as mentioned above.
