Ameriikan raitti

Ameriikan raitti is a funny and witty movie about 2 finnish small time crooks who take off and head to America for a better life. I've always liked movies that are filmed on location and i guess that is a plus in this one as well. Too bad the actors recruited from Florida are a bunch of amateurs. Anyway at points it's almost as fun to watch as 'Häjyt'.

Why is sound so bad in all Finnish movies, even nowadays? The movie was made 1990 just before the last depression that started around 1992.

This movie was like a simple lesson not to move from Finland, it's dangerous out there. Maybe good warning for some people. I did not want to say more than to complain about the sound (but to comment one has to write 10 lines minimum). I saw the movie on DVD, luckily I could set the subtitles in English to understand what was going on though I'm Finnish. But it was nice they filmed in USA. The naked women were a little too much... I did not know this was a comedy, only after reading it here. I came to check the year it was made.

Have I lost my sense of humor? There are scenes that are funny but it's mostly drama and in the end it turns into a thriller. There are few violent scenes. Characters and actors are great, location couldn't be better for a movie like this. Makes me want to move to Florida. You should watch this BUT, first watch Talvisota (1989), then Pohjanmaa (1988) and then this. Every movie is connected and has the same characters.

Great film. But it is not a comedy. Remember that!
