Party Crasher: My Bloody Birthday

I will try and choose my words very carefully so as not to give anyone the mistaken idea that this is a review of an actual movie. This was something like a highschool play, but not the schools highschool play, the play that the 8 or 10 dopers made when they snagged the video gear for a weekend when they were just supposed to transport it back to the school.

When you look on the internet movie database NONE of the people that were in this actually acted in anything with the exception of 1 guy who played "athlete" in a ski movie.

To go into the story line is almost a travesty to movie reviewers everywhere... but here goes. Poorly shot, poorly conceived, party for a 16 yo boy thrown at a motel by his parents opens this turkey. First, what parent in their right mind gives their 16 yo boy a wad of cash and allow him to rent the local motel for a drinking party.. anyway, seven kids die. His "friends" tab him with 25 hits of LSD and when he wakes up he is named as the killer and jailed for 15 years. The parents install a Hannibal Lector type room for him in their house and he wears a Hannibal mask which I think was a blessing in this worthless waste of videotape and time. The guy who tabbed him at the opening party becomes the target of his closing rampage of stupidity. The one scene that was humorous.. I do not mean to give the impression that this was a funny movie, it wasn't but, in a scene where they take him to the park he saves a child from an attach by a dog, so his highschool class naturally decides to give him a award for saving the girl at their highschool reunion... this is the same guy that killed 7 of their friends. Well, thats as plausible as any of the other scenes in this movie. They stole my money, be careful they don't steal yours.

I was an extra in this movie, filmed in Tulsa, OK, and I have to tell you, it sucks. It is laughably stupid. If I were Mark Mason, I would shelve this thing and never associate my name with it. It is even too crappy to become a cult classic like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. Mark, don't quit your day job. LOL. The plot is thin. The acting is weak. The sound is spotty. The sound man looked like Mickey Rourke. Everyone associated with the movie, smoked,...even all the damn extras. Actually what could be done with the movie is a bunch of people who are going to get drunk could rent it and act out the movie along with the "actors". I hope Mark didn't put his own money into this. A masterpiece of junk.

OK - I was so hyped to see this movie after the internet comments that i searched it out and found what i believe is on of maybe four copies in the whole Central Virginia area at the Hollywood Video (I do give them props for their "First Rites" series.) But this movie sucked. I do not expect or even want great acting but this was like cue card stuff. The father and mother are as stiff as cardboard. Mark Moore, the director, ruins any shred of mystique about the killer character by telling the audience that it is he playing it because of the intended actor's 'mishap' that took him off the job. So you know what the guy looks like under the mask - (apparently in order to make him scarier and unrecognizable, they added a Hannibal Lecter mask that is just cheesy).

The opening party scene is played horribly, despite its good ideas. The killings are practically goreless, cutting away at the crucial moments.

But I kept waiting for some revelation that this supposed ESP that we are told the killer has gained while in prison will reveal to us. Or perhaps an elaboration on the hints that he did not commit the murders. There had to be some reason why this movie was being talked about. But no. The ending is anticlimactic and simple. I was horribly disappointed. And believe it or not, I don't expect much in a horror movie. I love s*****y slasher flicks...this one just doesn't cut it.
