This is a Nikkatsu Roman Porno comedy-drama with a surprising & different spin on things even having some LGBT elements. Directed by Tatsumi Kumashiro who is one of Japan's most successful directors & was respected outside Japan. Even François Truffaut had mentioned being a fan of some of his films.
The story is a Yakuza wannabe has a few working girls who use a con to increase earnings. One night his girlfriend brings home a corporate executive who is drawn into the middle of the two with surprising consequences. Can't explain further without spoiling things.
Naomi Tani is one of the stars but not necessarily the main character. She does get a few comedic scenes to good effect. Something I wish she did more of.
This is just an enjoyable film. Funny enough, a bit of slapstick, some drama along the way and throwing in the required Pink scenes of nudity and sex. Softcore of course. Not the usual 1970's Nikkatsu but a pleasant surprise. Definitely recommended.
