In the 1941 animated film Dumbo, to which serves as the character's first appearance, he is portrayed as being more of a supporting neutral character rather than a main antagonist, never showing to be as outwardly malicious as other villains introduced before or after him, though characteristically has shown elements of strictness and occasional arrogance.
