The Threat

The wife of Archie's Air Force buddy Duke is staying with the Bunkers for a night before she joins her husband in Germany.

It turns out that Duke's wife is not the one Archie knows,it seems the first wife had died and the new wife is a younger,sexy waitress named Bobbi Jo that Duke married. She is played by Gloria LeRoy, although she is supposed to be younger than Archie and Duke (she is, but only a couple of years) she looks just as old despite wearing a low cut top and a miniskirt. The point of the episode is that Archie mistakenly believes Bobbi Jo made a pass, though she acts flirty and kisses him on the lips twice,you can hardly blame him for thinking that. There is also a uncomfortable scene where Edith tells Bobbi Jo to leave her house,so it is not much fun to watch.

Archie makes a total fool of himself. Seems totally out of control with his desires towards Bobbie Jo. Edith is oblivious to Archie's straying eye. An episode of exaggerations. Archie is made to be a buffoon every chance the writers get. Another brilliant bit of acting by Carroll O'Connor.
