This show aired in 2021. Now is 2023. I still can't watch it anywhere and there are no more than 2 episodes available. Making a show about slavs and their culture and mythology but making it available only in USA when it comes to other countries except the ones who made the show is weird I'm not sure what you wanted to achieve by that but I guess some people will never get the chance to see the show. I am of Slavic ethnicity and I was very hyped when I heard about the show but it is what it is I guess life is unfair. If you're gonna make a show about some ethnicity's history atleast make it available for everyone and not just USA.
The picture work, story, actors, environment, simply amazing. The only disadvantage I see, there is no English translation, which would be much deserved.
I agree with much of what is written in the User Review titled "Show with great potential, but badly executed" But I think most of the flaws come from the fact that they had a great story that could have been told in 4-6 episodes, so they just kept repeating the same situations, conversations, disagreements over and over again as filler. In a sense the show was killed in the mismatch between the story arc they wrote and the time slots they had to fill. So in a sense, it's the producer's fault.
I followed the advice of the gods from the series and tried to be patient. Almost every character seems to be just as impatient as the viewer to get on the with the story, find their destiny, identity, whatever. Do they? Not in a particularly satisfying way in the end It works, but it isn't especially satisfying. They could at least have ended with some text talking about what happened next. I think that when people stream this they are expecting a tight and exciting historical story. Had it been made that way, they could have shopped it around to streaming services. But this seems to have been a rather non-ambitious slot filler on Slovakian TV according to other reviews. Nobody is going to want to continue it now. They would need to start from scratch with a whole new pilot.
So if its so flawed why did I give it 7 stars instead of 5. As a US Citizen with an interest in History I REALLY appreciated a setting that is completely specific in time and features a part of the world that we NEVER get information about in this country. Because I grew up during the cold war, every aspect of slavic culture I have been exposed to is from a Russian or it deals with Eastern Orthodox communities in the US. I've gone out of my way to study Byzantium, Bulgaria, every part of Yugoslavia. And maybe some rough outlines of Poland. I no nothing about 6th century slovakia or really anyone in contact with the SW part of Frankia. We just don't cover the east Franks before the holy roman empire and then only with respect to the formation of Germany.
I want to see this story continue. What a great time and place. Like others have said, it could have been so much better. My point is that all it needed to be better was a shorter run time and some ruthless editing. But I guess they would have needed much more Euros to make each episode.

The way this show catches the feel of the era is brilliant! It's mixed with a deep dive into Slavic culture and traditions, definitely enjoyed it so far.
The trailers looked great so whilst I came to it open minded, I had reasonably high expectations to be entertained or at least teased to continue watching. After watching the first episode, I regret to admit that I was neither. I didn't expect it to be like GoT or Vikings, which seems to have been a common complaint by some of the viewers (I liked neither - stopped watching GoT after S1E4 and couldn't even finish the first ep of Vikings - I was just bored). What it could have been? I don't really mind. Just tell a decent story and create a drama that holds interest. I was bored throughout, and I was forcing myself to finish watching it to give it a chance. In today's environment with severe competition by international channels, Netflix, HBO etc, a new series needs to hit the ground running. There needs to be a twist, a hook or something why viewers want to watch. Breaking Bad starts with Walt waving a gun in the New Mexico desert in his underpants, a teaser of things to come, House of Cards with Kevin Spacey killing a dog in front of his house making a philosophical point and showing his character. Gomorrah has a couple of gangsters burning down an enemy boss' apartment. Etc etc etc. For me there was nothing alike here. The end of episode one does have a development but it is so obvious before the scene what will happen and is delivered in such a lukewarm fashion (and censored) that I just couldn't really care or get excited by it.
Firstly, it is clear that the direction, camera and actors tried. The production value is high, money was spent, visuals are beautiful and acting is not bad either. Having a TV seris about Slavs is desirable. There is a big gap in the market of all the Vikings, Germans, Romans et al. The problem is the script. The intro dialogue between the herbalist girl and one of the young protagonists is naive and contrived. Like every Slovak fairytale, there is an unpleasant stepmother who will try to marry off the protagonist girl to some inappropriate suitor. Cliches abound. Since it needs to appeal to the broadest spectrum of the miniscule Slovak viewing market, all the controversial parts are censored (sex and violenc). The sex scene didn't show anything and was contrived, embarrasing and absolutely not sexy. I am personally not a fan of sex scenes unless they are absolutely necessary for the type of the film or for the story, but here whilst there was logic to it there was no credibility to it. The violent scenes were also censored. For me episode one just doesn't know what this series actually wants to be. I am open to anything. Just give us a good story, tension and drama. So far they are absent.
