Is the only redeeming quality of this movie.
Sci-fy meets lifetime movie of the week with no scares or plot sums up this movie nicely.
What little plot there is, focuses on a young teen girl manipulating her friend group with her sexual wiles, and the children/teens of today being little narcissistic psychopaths in training that strive and live for the approval and adoration of strangers on the internet.

None of the main characters in this movie are likeable. The story moves along very slowly, almost painfully so. The acting is pretty bad. The sets look decent, but that's about the most redeeming thing.
By a technical standpoint, the movie's not bad. It has some good camera work, the sound mixing was on point, the acting - for the most part - wasn't bad.
When the movie started, all of the characters were deplorable. As it continued, the characters only got worse. With the exception of the Snack character, all you want is to see the other characters killed. I only kept watching just to see everyone else get killed off. The worst characters were Bran (from the get-go, you want him dead), Ayla (no redeeming factors) and Scribble (just a general horrible person).
Hell, the monster (Crockamoley) was sympathetic. You wanted to see it off the entire cast - you just waited for it.
I felt like this film had potential. If it focused on the Jeni character being bullied due to her anxiety and how Snack was someone to befriend her while trying to distance himself from his "friends," it could have worked. Honestly, this film fails because its focus is on the wrong people.

'Where the Scary Things Are' chronicles a group of young kids and their mission to create an urban legend for a school project. But, when their scary urban legend creature starts getting likes online, the group faces an impasse of friendship or fame.
This is awful. The acting is dismal, the script would be alright if it was done with competent direction, the flow is terrible, and the overall film is one that should have been burned on the cutting room floor. Ayla (Selina Flanscha) is unusually angry or aggressive throughout the film and Bran (Quinn Andrew Fickes) sad attempt at apathy comes off as plastic. All of the kids are referred to by their nicknames throughout the film, by both teachers and parents - Scribble (Oliver Givens), Mighty (Riley Sullivan), and Snack (Peter Cote) don't have 'real' names. The monster is kinda neat, but ultimately cannot pull the film with such horrid acting.
Avoid at all costs.

Terrible acting from the characters. Scenes with the the main girl are hard to watch especially when it's 5 minutes straight of her dancing for no reason infront of her friends. No cool kills coming from the monster. Would skip again if I could.
