Didn't expect much, and not generally a fan of comedy, but was pleasantly surprised by the witty dialogue and comedic timing in the first 20 mins. Once they introduced the character played by Sophie Alakija (Ame, I believe), the storyline becomes silly and somewhat confusing), the acting becomes woody, and the dialogue becomes stale. Granted, the girls' makeup and outfits get more polished, but the dialogue between the two main female characters slopes downhill - leave him alone, he is mine, no he is mine, you leave him alone, and on and on. Very interesting concept that could've been a much better movie with more help in the creativity and writing department.
Don't mind the bad reviews. They are either paid or are not used to watching great scripts being brought to life by actors. This movie was thrilling from start to finish except for abit of flaws in sound production. The storyline was different and really talked more on spirituality. Not those common nonsense that nollywood has made us believe. Bovi was excellent in his role, his acting was 8/10 the other actors too did great. This movie on traditional spirituality was way better than "Nneka the Pretty Serpent" and a host of other spiritually inclined movies.
The film was a big wake-up call to those who play with love because there is death in the pot!
A more solid acting and screenplay could have taken My Village People to a higher level, but overall the movie is worth watching
DELICIOUS
-We loved the spooky atmosphere that was installed right from the opening scenes. There was always a creepy echo when someone was speaking in the village. Of course, the three witches were intimidating 😱 Plus, the eerie sound and visual effects added a frightening dimension
-Big shout out to the costume design team for giving us a good sense of each character
-Best actors were Akah Nnani, Theresa Edem, and Zubby Michael. Compared to other actors, they really maintained the spirit of their characters even the camera was not focused on them👏
-The story sent a serious message to people who play with love; we witnessed the danger escalating as Prince went from bad to worse.
BLAND
-The film was all about Prince; it started with Prince and ended with Prince. There was no parallel story, hence it became very redundant for 2 hours
-Bovi is a good entertainer but he sadly could not deliver the scary segments of the film. There was no genuine fear on his face and he carried the same expression throughout.
If not for the costume and make-up, Sophie Alakija was unfortunately not scary
Compared to Bovi's previous movies, My Village People is his best screenwriting work supported by a good production.

This is why I don't mind reviews anymore. I saw the reviews here and refused to watch it. But my friend recommended it for me. I watched it and it was dope. Perfect casting, sweet storyline. This story is actually possible in Nigeria in places like Edo state. I have not laughed at a movie like this for a while. Thumbs up.
Storyline is different from the average African movie ...I really did enjoyed it ...the audio sound was a bit off sometimes but the effect sound was great....story wasn't bad I loved it .it was nice to see the legends featured. Bovi did well .. Good to see him on the screen. Cinematography wasn't that bad. The two hour movie at first I thought it will be boring and they will drag the story line but it seem the writer had a lot to tell and I was highly impressed so kudos. I will recommend highly for others ...you will enjoy it because I did enjoy it. Can I watch it again...ofcourse yes 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
