Ginger is upset after learning Amy keeps a gun in the apartment; a hotel bigwig dies in the restaurant; Nancy and Howard disagree when picking out new wallpaper.
This was the Sixth Season opener and the girls have updated hairstyles: Amy and Ginger's hair is much longer, Dot and Jan have more "air in their hair" as both are sporting fuller 'dos.
Like most of last season's output, this episode stretches the stories too thin, which is curious, because Sonny is given one of his longest musical numbers yet, so it's not like they ran out of time. He also sings Cher's "Bang Bang" and makes a reference to Sonny Bono being Mayor of Palm Springs. This became a popular punchline everywhere back in 1988.
Nancy asks Jan for marital advice and later thanks her when things work out. It's interesting to see Jan as the "go- to girl" considering the animosity Nancy displayed toward her back in Season One.
The writers just gloss over the fact that Amy wishes the nasty executive dead and when he does expire in a bowl of soup there is no follow-through. The character's religious background provided a perfect opportunity to explore this further.
Not a great start to the final season.
