This is not your typical "slasher" horror film. Nor will you find it filled with blood, gore, knives, or chainsaws. If that happens to be your thing, then this movie isn't for you. (While there's some "violence," it's relatively tame in the scheme of things.)

The actors are delivering the story on multiple levels, saying one thing with their mouths and something totally different with their eyes. Even in more upbeat scenes, they hold a sinister tone that keeps you constantly uneasy.

The other highlights are beautiful cinematography, expert direction, and great pacing that all comes together to create an excellent cinematic experience sure to delight. It delves deep into concepts that will leave you thinking about the film for days after and begs for repeat viewing.

Children of the Pines is definitely worth the watch. It's an incredible stylish study on the darkness within each one of us. I can't recommend the film enough!
