O Fazendeiro do Ar

"O Fazendeiro do Ar" is an elegant, calm and nice presentation about the life and work of famous poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade, one of the most important characters in Brazilian literature.

We are introduced to a quiet man who verses about his life, early childhood and his tenure as Chief of Staff of a state governor. Some of his poems are presented but not the most significant ones, and there's also several scenes where you can see his daily activities, walking around the crowd without being noticed and visiting a library. The major point of the film is to present the man's ideas about Minas Gerais and the difference that state has with Rio de Janeiro, where he was living at the time so the author reflects about its similarities and differences.

There isn't much to be said about this short except that it's fascinating to see this polite gentleman talking about his works and early education - the part where he talks about falling in love with the words and letters while reading newspapers back when he was a child and then he got a classical collection of universal literature of which he devoured through the years is all amazing. You get the chance to meet a man with a refined education but who acts like a simple man. Drummond could be that senior citizen you meet at your public library and can discuss about literature for hours. It's pretty good. 9/10.
