Movie Review: The Holy Trinity (2023)
Shalom Kolontarov's The Holy Trinity is a chilling and atmospheric horror film that delivers an intense, supernatural thriller experience. Inspired by true events, the film follows five college friends who embark on what was supposed to be a relaxing getaway, only to find themselves trapped in a terrifying battle against an ancient pagan demon.
One of the film's strongest aspects is its ability to build suspense. From the eerie setting of the isolated cabin to the unsettling sounds that fill the air, Kolontarov masterfully crafts an environment that keeps viewers on edge. The cinematography enhances the horror elements, making the audience feel as though they, too, are trapped in this supernatural nightmare.
The performances, particularly by Shalom Kolontarov and Val Garrahan, bring an emotional depth to the film, making the characters' fear and desperation feel genuine. The chemistry between the cast members strengthens the narrative, ensuring that viewers remain invested in their fates.
What sets The Holy Trinity apart is its unique approach to horror. Rather than relying solely on jump scares, the film explores psychological dread, making the terror more lingering and impactful. The mythological elements woven into the story add an intriguing layer, offering something fresh for fans of supernatural horror.
While some reviews have pointed out minor technical flaws, these do not detract from the film's overall effectiveness. If anything, The Holy Trinity exemplifies indie horror at its best-driven by passion, creativity, and an eagerness to push boundaries.
For those who appreciate slow-burning horror with a strong atmospheric presence, The Holy Trinity is a must-watch. Whether you're a fan of supernatural thrillers or psychological horror, this film offers a gripping experience that stays with you long after the credits roll.

... And I'm not talking about the movie.
The closing rap theme is something beyond every trash level you could imagine.
Every single shot in the movie is really something terrifying. I mean that those guys screwed up every single rule you can take in consideration for making a nearly acceptable movie.
I can say I have doubts of how much are they aware of this...
Because maybe they don't.
And why do they keep making this kind of movie?
Maybe are they trying to become something kinda trashy sensation and hope to be contacted for a b-movie?
I guess they are not good even for an Asylum movie ..
Guys, you could do better with a smartphone and capcut...
But I really want to work with you guys, I guess I could have a lot of fun...

Review: The Holy Trinity (2023)
Shalom Kolontarov's The Holy Trinity is a gripping supernatural horror film that takes audiences on a terrifying ride through ancient mythology, psychological torment, and sheer suspense. Based on purported true events, the story follows five college friends who, during a weekend retreat, accidentally unleash a powerful pagan demon that turns their getaway into a nightmare.
One of the film's greatest strengths is its atmosphere. The isolated cabin setting is beautifully shot, enhancing the eerie sense of doom that builds throughout the story. Kolontarov uses shadowy lighting, unsettling sound design, and eerie cinematography to create a creeping dread that lingers in every scene. Unlike many horror films that rely on cheap jump scares, The Holy Trinity builds its horror slowly, making the eventual terror all the more impactful.
The performances from the cast, particularly Shalom Kolontarov and Val Garrahan, feel authentic, helping to draw the audience deeper into the story. Their fear and desperation feel real, making the supernatural horror all the more believable. The script successfully blends psychological tension with supernatural elements, ensuring that the scares aren't just visual but also deeply unsettling.
Another standout aspect is the film's mythology. The idea of an ancient pagan demon lurking beneath the surface of reality adds a fresh and intriguing twist to the horror genre. Rather than rehashing the same old ghost story, The Holy Trinity introduces something unique, making it a must-watch for fans of supernatural horror.
While some indie films struggle with pacing or effects, The Holy Trinity keeps its momentum, delivering a suspenseful and engaging experience. The practical effects and eerie score work in tandem to heighten the terror, proving that horror doesn't need a massive budget to be effective.
For horror fans who enjoy atmospheric, mythology-driven scares, The Holy Trinity is a hidden gem. It's a film that sticks with you long after the credits roll, making you question what might be lurking just beyond the veil of reality. If you're looking for a horror movie that delivers genuine chills, this one is definitely worth a watch.
