These contestants are not experienced.

The FLO missed the medieval stud Reporting the rubbish ring pulls, bottle tops, shotgun cartridges, iron and lead is excellent.

I would avoid filming on soaking wet days.

The FLO calling the beautiful lead weight in favour of the half guinea was clearly the correct choice but took guts simply because some of the detectorists are novices.

The Great British Treasure Hunt series 1 was excellent.

I like Henry Cole! There, I've said it. I'm aware that he's a bit of a marmite figure and not to everyone's taste but I like the bloke, especially his motorcycle programs.

I wasn't expecting anything of his great British treasure hunt but it was strangely compelling and fascinating. A bit like watching James May, the reassembler. It's definitely not for the BGT or Love Island viewers (thank god) but for those of us who like gentle banter and interesting viewing it's a bit of a winner.
