Raveland was fun to watch and it remind me of a mixed with African film style and westerns. The actors did a great job bringing out emotions. I really enjoyed it. I like the idea of supernatural powers been part of the movie. Which gave it a great twist and turns.

First of all, this movie is longer than the average movie, about 2 hours or so. I did not feel like that. I was so engrossed in the storyline that it could have been another hour and I just wanted the film to keep on going. It's even fast paced as it seems a lot of things have been cut out of the film to get to the big reveals. The lead actress carries an agency on screen that keeps you glued every second. I could not take my eyes off her. She did a great job at leading this film especially with so many characters surrounding but the way she expressed the central plot of family and sisterhood was very emotionally gripping and tragic at some points.
Now to my favorite part, THE MUSIC. And I don't just mean the music which was such an excellent score, but the way silence became music, the way screaming became drumming nightmares, the way the island became a sound that struck a chord into the depths of my heart, the way the ocean waves became whispers, the way the plot unfolded in a seemingly melodic rhythm, everything all worked in tandem like a song to deliver a melodic masterpiece. The development of each tragic event was something that no horror movie I have ever watched has ever done. It managed to make every moment emotional, terrifying and melodic at the same time. What a masterpiece Rebecca Ugo! Truly impressive! The fact that this film managed to make me sad and scared and even hopeful simultaneously is something to be said of the impressive work she's done. I can't wait to see more from her. It was an honor to attend this premiere. Truly feel like I am witnessing the birth of a generational talent!

Raveland is a thrilling ride. The pacing of the writing is exquisite. It takes you on a journey where you are enraptured completely and immersed in an island, its secrets, history, rules and more. I loved the way the plot unfolded thematically in an organized yet unpredictable way. My favorite character by far is Shilo played by Racheal Ihim, the emotional depths to which she carries the screen is spellbinding. The character, Shilo, seemingly a Princess who carries grief that somewhat hardens her against trusting other people, but the cumulation of her character in a particular scene that I can't disclose due to spoiler reasons was by far my favorite scene to watch in the entire movie. It left me in a frozen state, shocked and in an emotional shock unto the depravity of humanity. Again, I can't stress how exquisite the writing and directing is, everything works in tandem to create a holistic masterpiece that one can rewatch over and over again. Rebecca Ugo is a phenomenal writer and director and we need more producers like her. The inspirational message and the the plot is very intriguing, filled with master filled concepts smoothly executed. Bravo to everyone and thanks for the invite to the premiere. It was definitely a thrilling ride.
Perfect, because you have to love movies that reveal themselves at their own pace, making you anticipate every next scene, because you simply cannot get ahead of the story.
Director/writer Rebecca Ugo turns the "Imperiled Teens on an Island"- standard on its head, and dials up the tension relentlessly. The attractive and (mostly) young cast serve the story well, with standout performances by Racheal Ihim, Charlotte Rose, and River Perkins delivering natural and nuanced performances.
Technical highlights include beautiful cinematography, including impressive drone camerawork, lush locations, and a fitting musical score.
A definitely worthwhile alternative to Big Studio blockbuster franchises.

If this film was done by beginners I'd give it a higher rating. I respect young filmmakers who give a feature length narrative a go.
However, for the average viewer the background of the director, cinematographer, actor, etc. Doesn't matter. Was the movie good or bad? In this case it missed the mark on most all levels. The directing was sloppy - the blocking, pacing, tension/suspense all fell short, or not at all. The photography was boring. Too brightly or darkly lit, purposeless camera angles, and several times out of focus - unconscionable in the cinematography business. The editing couldn't, or didn't, cover for the previous errors. The sound was a major disappointment. Simply inconsistent, at times inaudible, with sound effects that often were out of sync with the action - bush league. The story is for another review, but I suspect good filmmaking couldn't save this convoluted mess, filled with plot holes. It just didn't ring authentic., which leads to the acting. Once again, if these are newbie actors, keep going. If not, well..they ran the gamut of human emotions from A-B (yes, I stole that line).
