Bearing in mind that Dog Run only runs for 23 minutes, it is a phenomenally perceptive look at the issues surrounding modern slavery. It has just the right emotional edge to tell the story of the main protagonists without becoming sensationalised or even overly sentimental. It is beautifully directed with great attention to detail in terms of the choice of location and music as well as the supporting cast. Indeed, all of the individual choices made by the director, in addition to the thought-provoking performance by the cast, ensure that this short film is a modern masterpiece that provides important social commentary.
A beautiful film, sensitively dealing with topics of modern slavery.
An impressive story told in twenty minutes, evoking genuine emotion and educating at the same time.
Stunning direction from Lorna Nickson-Brown and a a mention to Paula Wharton who encaptures us as the role of Mary.
An outstanding, raw story. The relationship between Phoenix's character and Lily the German shep is palpable and one that really shows the power and strength in relationship between man and dog. The story gives you hope in a horrific circumstance and shows the power and importance of relationships that can be had between animals and humans.

A moving, deeply thought provoking look at a topic that is too often ignored. Dog Run shines a powerful light on the multilayered nature of the human tragedy of modern slavery. Far from it being a two dimensional look at victims and perpetrators, Dog Run's true brilliance is perhaps in the humanity it brings to all the characters, including the role of May. The quality of filming, the weight each of the smaller appearances bring to the overall narrative and the fact that it runs at just over twenty minutes is inspiring. Dog Run packs a big punch for a short film with such modern day significance.
