From the series of music videos made by the TV program "Fantástico", this one presents the debut of Cazuza in solo career after his tenure as lead
singer from Barão Vermelho" and then began a successful career as a sol artist with the release of the single "Exagerado". It's a phenomenal success and
it definitely proved that he was a complete showman who could make powerful ballads just as much as the powerful rock songs he did for Barão, and also
some flirtation with Brazilian popular music.
The video is kinda corny but still effective. At first glance, there's a strange sense of future prediction since Cazuza appears inside of a small room where he
types lots of things into a computer and from time to time there's dream-like images of a woman so it gives the impression that he's having an online dating in the early 1980's.
Unthinkable! But that's not the general idea. He actually dreams of her, imagining situations where he can wins her love and attention, which match with some descriptions of the
lyrics such as the moment where he becomes a beggar and he tries to reach out to her. Countless of other situations happens at the same time he performs the song with great
enthuasism.
"Fantástico" videos weren't exactly the best thing available, it was only a way to promote artists and their songs and they did it quite well, but never managed to create
artistic flights of imagination or creativity like the ones made by MTV (which only the U. S. version, the Brazil MTV would only come here in 1990). So, this is the best thing
available at the time. The song is great, a true hit that still plays everywhere and one of the most significant songs ever composed by Cazuza, as according to him it describes
him with plenty of accuracy, of being an exagerated person who either loves too much or don't love at all. It's all good, but in artistic terms Cazuza's best music video will
always be "Ideologia". 8/10.
