Just saw this film in an early screening in NYC. I really enjoyed the father/son relationship. Mickey knew he didn't have the experience that he could relate to his son but he resourcefully found someone who could identify personally. That is even better than trying to do it himself, in my opinion. The characters are really likeable - even the ones doing things that are wrong. The peek into the music business is pretty realistic too - especially the young people on their cel phones in the studio. The acting wasn't overdone - it was just right. Not a lot of names I knew, but I'm sure we will hear more from all of them in the future.
Reminded me of The Replacements record Don't Tell a Soul-at times...funny, emotional, familiar, dark, loud, chaotic, thought provoking and hopeful. If it sounds like a lot for one movie, it kinda was. They probably had enough story for three movies so it's worth watching a few times. I understand the film is semi autobiographical which would explain why the filmmaker was compelled to say so much at once. While the story line seems a little busy, it also feels honest and real.
Before this, Tim Hazelip, who plays the main characters brother, had never acted before. No drama club, no commercials, he wasn't even an extra. Contrast that with Eric Roberts who has made well over 700 movies. You end up with a lot of texture and a likable, capable cast.
The shots are pretty, the production appears sharp but not slick.
It was as good as or better than 60% of the big budget Hollywood films I've seen so it gets 7 stars.

I would be very interested to see the reason for such a low rating from people. I didn't find anything really out of place. It doesn't promote any bad values, acting is good, it's a relatable story for many and while there are some good ol' cheesy moments, the film is very good altogether. Certainly kept me interested WAY longer than movies with a similar rating. So I don't get the negative reviews at all.
At least for me, this was thoroughly higher quality than most slop from hollywood nowadays and I would watch it again. I only found this movie because I'm a fan of Steelheart and I'm glad I watched it. I think this deserves a high rating. Highly recommend.

The relationship between the father and son felt so real and tender and it reminded me of the ups and downs of raising a boy into a man. The movie captures moments of vulnerability and strength that define any family. The performances were heartfelt and Trust In Love doesn't shy away from the tough parts of love.
What stood out to me the most was how the story emphasizes the importance of healing and communication within a family. It's a film that encourages reflection and offers comfort to those going through difficult times. I'd definitely recommend this movie to other families. It's a powerful reminder of the bonds that hold us together, even when life gets challenging.

Refreshing to come across a good family movie that highlights battles we go through daily. Great balance of emotions- such as humor, happiness, sadness, relief, and more. Did a great job at teaching real life lessons, but in a way that can be easily received by viewers. If you are anything like me and you love romantic dramas, especially those that explore the complexities of love, trust, and the challenges that arise when these elements are put to the test- this movie is for you. Overall, it brings together a talented cast to deliver a narrative that is both emotionally charged and relatable, making it a compelling watch.
