Just saw this film in an early screening in NYC. I really enjoyed the father/son relationship. Mickey knew he didn't have the experience that he could relate to his son but he resourcefully found someone who could identify personally. That is even better than trying to do it himself, in my opinion. The characters are really likeable - even the ones doing things that are wrong. The peek into the music business is pretty realistic too - especially the young people on their cel phones in the studio. The acting wasn't overdone - it was just right. Not a lot of names I knew, but I'm sure we will hear more from all of them in the future.
I saw this one in the theaters a couple of months ago and it was worth it. The audience was engaged and responded well to the emotions in the film. At times I felt like i was watching the movie with family and friends instead of moviegoing strangers. The cast appeared to have fun making this movie-it shows in the performances. The emotions at the end were a real tearjerker-you can tell someone really experienced this story. It's a heartfelt father and son movie that's perfect for families, especially those who might be going through something similar.
The visuals add a layer of depth that makes the emotional moments hit even harder. The pacing allowed the story to build naturally without feeling rushed. Jimi Petulla delivers a standout performance, bringing a raw and authentic energy to his role.
What really struck me was how relatable the film was. It's not just a story about love and trust-it's about the bonds that hold families together, even in tough times. Watching it felt almost therapeutic. This is a film that will stay with you long after the credits roll. Highly recommend it for a family movie night or anyone looking for a heartfelt, emotional journey.

"Trust in Love" is a poignant and heartwarming film that reminds us of the essential role that trust plays in forming, maintaining and nurturing relationships within a family structure.
The movie emphasizes the importance of forgiveness and second chances in the context of trust. The movie delves into the idea that trust is the foundation of any healthy relationship. Without trust, a relationship cannot thrive or grow. The rocky relationship between the parents and the complexity of growing teenagers living in a complex world while dad is juggling a struggling music career in a new administration of the entertainment business is a new learning curve for dad. What's more important his band or his family? Eric Roberts is great and Robby Krieger from The Doors was a pleasant surprise. The acting was great, shot mostly in Malibu Ca. The laughs are plentiful. Go watch it its a good one.

Way more laughs than I expected. Great story of a family struggling with real issues including a son coming out in high school. Eric Roberts is hilarious.
Lots of twists and turns and lots of memorable characters. Malibu life showcased as it is.
Inspiring ending with surprises of hope.
The dynamic between the mom and dad splitting up is way to close to home, but mistakes by both everywhere until some things happen to change the situation. The attorney interviews had me crying with laughter as I had that in a real life experience.
The surf dude is a superstar. Great casting with Jimi Petulla being a strong anchor to it all.
Loved the feeling I left the movie with.

This coming of age story just works for all the characters in the film. Mick Davis' gentle directing really brought out the best in everyone in this funny film sorta based on a true story.
I always find it amazing when someone writes a film they get to star in and it does well, and Petulla who plays Mickey and wrote the film, did a great job carrying the role. It's shot beautifully, has Steelheart's Miljenko Matijevic, a funny co-starring turn by Eric Roberts and a cameo from Robby Krieger of The Doors. We all need a little feel good these days and this one really comes from the heart.
Come for the funny, stay for the tag.
