Tales from the Creek

I'm a lover of Anthologies. When Writer/Director sent me a copy of "Tale From the Creek" I was so excited. The following review is from the tales that unfold.

We start off with a father (Michael Spinelli) and his 2 sons (Milo and Maddox Spinelli) on a Father's Day camp out. As the father rambles they look for the perfect spot to camp out. Turns out this is the set up to tell some stories from the Creek and was written and directed by Michael Spinelli. The kids are now introduced to the 1st story "Bellwoods".

A women (Alexandra Cruz) likes running in the "Bellwoods". A tranquil beautiful Forrest that at first has a calming relaxing effect at first. On her latest run she is being chased. She manages to call her boyfriend (Ryan Esteban)to come help her. Him and his friend (Skinny)rush out to help, but will they get there in time. This was and directed by Ryan Esteban.

Good ole father and his sons return. He now teaches them how to build a campfire. There bonding is not getting any better. But now it's story time.

Time for the "Usher's Son". A lone Usher (Ryan Estaben)in a theatre is haunted by a unseen force. Noises, flashes, and actual physical contact. The actor portraying the usher really gives the fear of being scared. The theatre as the main location really takes advantage of its immense space and is haunting. Some pretty cool lighting FX and the desolation of an empty theatre make this a really creepy entry. This entry was written by Steve Balewicz and Ryan Esteban and directed by Steve Balewicz.

Now back to dad and his campfire stories. While the boys are going to get wood for the fire the next story up.

"Who's to blame" is good ole end of the world fun. 2 (Kii Hornick and Brooks Bailey) guys are holed up in a Storage unit. Trying to stay safe from the virus plaguing the world. They start freaking out being there and decide they maybe better off taking on what's beyond the closed gate. They finally decide it's better than dying without trying. This was written and directed by M. C. Nowell.

The dad teaches his son how to build up the fire. He gives them a lesson on fire. Not only how to start but how to respect. Which leads us to our last story about vampires with legendary Bob Glazier.

"Ultraviolent" opens with Bob Glazier walking the streets at night making them safe. He captures a guy (Steve Balewicz)and holds him captive. He believes this man he has been watching is responsible for his granddaughter and others missing. A interrogation gets the answers he wants but dies it. Brilliantly written by Dustin Hubbard Directed by Kii Hornick .

Back to Dad and his sons by the campfire. All is not what it appears to be and a really good twist is revealed.

The writers and individual filmmakers responsible for this movie made this a really fun entry in an Anthology movie. The set up with the father and sons on a camping trip is original and well done. You can feel tension building in there relationship and as the movie progresses a sense of abnormality develops.

Each story is not overdone and has cool shock endings that don't necessarily resolve the problem but further gets you thinking and bringing to the table your own thoughts on what just transpired in each story.

I loved the music, editing, stories, acting and how each story came together. You had 4 stories all very different but done in the same style cast compliment each other. I love Bob Glazier and thought I would be partial to his story. But yea it was strong and well done but hell they all were.

I was satisfied and really enjoy the set up and as a movie in whole works. I'm hoping a sequel is made. Was a fun watch and highly recommended it.
