Introspective but sometimes boring
I didn't think this needed a 2nd season but yet here we are. I can't help but feel like this is a diluted version of the FX show Atlanta. I personally am a fan of Vince Staples music. I like some of the concepts he has on certain episodes but in my opinion they fall short the longer they go on.
I loved the bank Episode from season 1. The cinematography on every episode is excellent. Outside of that, some of the writing lack the depth I was hoping for. Season 2 was boring and even corny at times. Don't get me wrong, there are some funny moments but I just feel like this could have been more naturally comedic if it wasn't trying so hard to be funny. Some scenes drag out longer than they need to be. Nonetheless, I can appreciate the introspective moments, metaphorical meanings and subliminal music industry concepts written within the dialogue.

Season 1 > Season 2
I enjoyed the first season and watched it twice. It had its fun moments and subliminal messages and I actually understood the idea and concept behind it. It was mixed with good and sometimes over the top clever humor
,relatable, which made it more fun to watch. It connected with me on different levels and I couldn't wait to watch the second season.
The second season sadly didn't reach the same heights and the clever humor from season 1. Everything that made the first season good, was exchanged with slapstick humor, way over the top storylines which at some times felt like cheap version of popular movies (Get Out) and supposed to be funny scenes which did not connect with me at all. Bigger budget doesn't always mean better production I guess. I barely found myself laughing and enjoying it. I was more so just watching it to support Vince, as I am a fan of his art. Kind of dissapointing second season. Which they would've kept the same direction as the first season. Hope they can get it right with a third season cause this wasn't it.

Need More ASAP!
Loved the length of the episodes and the whole feel the show gives. Gotta have a season 2. Vince has a lot more material to give the world. And we wanna see it!
The dialogue was pretty funny and the acting wasn't bad at all. With more opportunities for the show to expand in characters and potential story lines. If the next season ever happens it will be a lot better and more refined.
Wish it had a soundtrack by Vince to go with it, but it doesn't take anything away from the show.
Very glad Netflix took a gamble with giving Vince his own show and from my opinion, this is solid television. Hope this introduces new fans to his music and shows the potential he has as an artist in multiple mediums.

More "Urban" Atlanta
Watched the first 5 episodes and loved it. I'm sure this will not appeal to everyone as it is rooted deeply in lower class black culture. Which can be harsh gritty and disrespectful. With that being said for folks who've watched Atlanta know how unpredictable and surreal shows can be. This shows carries a similar energy albeit there is not always a happy ending as it is rooted in the lower income black experience. The show is real but still funny and carries the culture as it is forward on the big screen. There's also soo much that you have to read in-between the lines to understand. Great watch and great job Vince.
A Future Classic - We Need More!
I gotta say, The Vince Staples show is a future classic in the making! To me, it takes inspiration from classic Black sitcoms like Martin and The Jamie Foxx Show in terms of its sitcom-like scenarios as well as animated series like The Boondocks with its quizzical deconstruction of the African American experience. Don't let the heavy subtext scare you though, even to a causal audience, this show is too funny.
Building on top of the YouTube miniseries, The Vince Staples show on Netflix acts like a sort of continuation of that random comedy we've come to know and love from the rapper. Being both socially aware and outwardly cartoonish, the social commentary is cool and thought-provoking, without being too preachy.
The show's, witty dialogue in this show is on point! It'll have you laughing and nodding along. The storytelling style is unique too, kind of like Twin Peaks or an anthology series. And Vince Staples himself? He's got that deadpan comedic timing down perfectly. Episode 2 had me laughing out loud and it's a great introduction to the show's comedy style.
I really hope they bring this show back for another season, because it's too good to miss and doesn't overstay its welcome. My only hope is that the second season (it goes ahead) is longer than five episodes.
