The only reason I didn't give Wait With Me a 10/10 was because there were a couple times where the music overpowered the dialogue. Specifically, during what author Amy Daws likes to call the spicy scenes. I could tell Kate and Miles were murmuring sweet dirty nothings to each other but I couldn't hear them. Other than that, I was thrilled how true to the book the movie was. As my title says, the casting was spot on and the chemistry between Madison Lawlor and Andrew Beirnot was perfect, as was the friendship between Kate and Lynsey. I've read all the books in the series except Dean's story (getting there) and I hope that Next In Line will be next in line for us fans!
I haven't read the book, but love a good romcom so gave it a go.
It's just alright. The male main character's acting is a bit wooden, female was cheesy but ok, but there wasn't really that much chemistry between the leads. There were some parts that definitely had potential.
I couldn't decide if Dean was supposed to be a good guy that we were secretly supposed to really like or if he was the creepy friend next door.
The ex-boyfriend was too quick to feel any dramatic effect in my opinion.
An ok watch for a lazy morning but going by other reviews seems I probably would have loved it more had I read the book first.

Most other reviewers have read some book they keep mentioning. They view the movie as some fantasy retelling of the book they enjoyed.
The MOVIE, IS, UTTERLY TERRIBLE. It's just stupid. There is no chemistry between the two leads. The guy just cannot emote anything. He's a bore. He's supposed to be good looking but that doesn't make him attractive.
They have nothing between them. It's entirely contrived nonsense. It doesn't follow the romantic comedy formula for a movie. It's virtually unwatchable. The characters are poorly written.
It's not funny and it's not romantic. It's just a really bad movie.

I love this series so was looking forward to the movie and was NOT disappointed! Andrew Biernat was made for the role of sexy "book boyfriend" Miles Hudson. Madison Lawlor nails the role of "smut writer" Kate Smith, AKA Mercedes Lee Loveletter, who loses her ability to finish her latest erotic novel until she visits Tire Depot.....and then gets her writing mojo back, but has to continue sneaking into the "comfort center" for free coffee and cookies to finish her book. And this is where she meets sexy mechanic, Miles. But. She introduces herself to him as her pen name, Mercedes. Of course we know THAT's going to create problems down the road.
There's laugh out loud moments (like when Kate's author friend has pizza secretly delivered to her at Tire Depot) and the friendship between Kate, Lynsey (Jordan Blair Brown) and Dean (Caleb Slovak) and between Miles and best friend Sam (Laith Chaz Wallschleger) all work well. I particularly loved the scene where Dean confesses his attraction to Kate. But the real star of this movie is the chemistry between Andrew and Madison as Miles and Kate, struggling thru "friends with benefits" and catching feelings along the way. These actors absolutely deliver with authentic, believable performances and capture the audience from scene number 1.
This story is a slow buildup to the realization that Miles (who has sworn off relationships after his disastrous last one) can't resist charming Kate (Mercedes to him) and starts to fall hard....leading up to her EX coming back to town to taunt them (terrific drunk "Dryston" scene by James Knight) and the realization that Miles didn't know the REAL name of the woman he was falling for.....
In summary, I highly recommend this latest PassionFlix original, it sticks very close to the book as PassionFlix productions always do, with terrific acting throughout. Andrew will make you swoon and realize Kate/Mercedes never had a chance to resist the sexy mechanic, Miles Hudson.

I have many thoughts:
With that said: second watch? I'm more into it. It helps that I really like this book and series and have read over a dozen of the author's books. It's cute and the Mercedes/Kate and Lindsay actors are spot on and they do seem like they've been friends for ages. The actor playing Miles is very good-looking and was a good cast. I think with a different accent and maybe a little more direction or line-reading, there's more to be had there. The actor playing Sam stole the show with his background faces in the bar. I was laughing so hard.
So much of the dialogue is directly from the book and it's great. If you haven't read "Wait With Me" and you like cute romcoms, I highly recommend it.
When I first watched this movie, I tore it apart in my mind. There were some shots I would have not lingered on so much and some scenes I would have preferred were shot differently. I daresay that the love scenes in the movie would have been better to be all foreplay with very few full body shots. I'm not saying fade to black, but the angles that the scenes were shot at could have been tweaked. The bad ADR DID take me out of it. Additionally, the song playing over the motorcycle ride does not fit the vibe of the scene and is too loud over the rest of the sound.
The actor playing Dean was miscast or mis-styled. I don't know if it's the hair or the beard or the glasses, but there's something that's not quite right with Dean's style. Maybe we'll have another movie in the series with opportunity for improvement.
In all: We have a 7 because it's cute and sweet if we don't worry about the love scenes. We want more/better angles, better styling on the men, and just a bit more polish on everything.
