So this was a bust...
I started it because people were raving about it and about the unconventional nature of the relationship and about the female lead being different, not conventionally attractive in the k-drama sense. So I thought that could be interesting. I like a strong female lead, right?
So I was interested after the first episode and it felt promising. Then they get to space and boy oh boy... First off I understood quickly why so many seemed to hate her. She is so pig-headed and unpleasant and obsessive that I thought how on earth is he gonna fall for HER?
Well, I guess it's that theory that two people in extreme danger tend to fall in love. That must be the case here. And there sure is danger. But here comes the problem: you expect me to believe that a man who just arrived in space for the first time, with minimum training, is gonna space walk to save the commander and actually survive? There's plenty of suspension of disbelief here to be sure, but this was one of the most glaring ones.
Small quips is that the guys' hair is never impacted by the no-gravity thing. They're perfectly styled or carefully dishevelled. Eve keeps it in a bun usually and it's only her hair that floats.
There are so many things that go wrong and yet they survive.
Also, this whole show is obsessed with copulation, from the astronauts slash researchers studying lab rats and flies to the chaebol family with the over the top patriarch.
By the way, how stupid can you be to blame the doctor for operating on your daughter who could've died due to an ectopic pregnancy? And blame him for killing the child? Mind you this man owns hospitals. In what universe?
And after 2-3 episodes I was hoping this whole series would not be about those damn eggs. Little did I know. If I hear the word "morula" one more time I swear... Also, I can never understand people obsessed with having biological children. I know this is very prevalent in East Asia, but I do not understand it and it bugs me immensely. The ego... So Eve was mostly getting on my nerves, I wasn't crazy about their dynamic, he forgave her so fast after what she did to the morulas. The special effects look great but I ain't buying their heroics. It's basically just another k-drama but with an exotic setting. People act crazy and make no sense, it's all very dramatic.
And then I got spoiled on the ending somewhere on social media and I honestly do not regret one bit. Maybe I regret that I watched till ep 9 without knowing because that ending is crazy, crazier than the unbelievable things that I just wrote about so now I regret committing time to this thing.
And it was all about the damn eggs wasn't it?
Somebody wrote somewhere that this is like a veiled pro-life material. Looks like it, doesn't it?
Anyway, my second Lee Min-ho drama, first was Boys Over Flowers, which I didn't even finish and I thought he looked weird in that one. At least now I can say ok he's cute. But I still wasted 9 hours for nothing.

When the Stars Gossip is a Korean drama that is sharply written. The SciFi is present but not overwhelming. The characters are the focus. If you are reluctant because of the SciFi leaning, do not let you pass this by. SciFi lovers won't be put off either. Nothing flashy is done and when they do go into the effects it is for fun not to over where. This is a ratings sleeper so far I highly recommend this program. They are offering the Korean Romcom with a little spin, frankly I was getting bored but I am looking forward to each episode of When the Stars Gossip. With 16 episodes there will be plenty of twists and turns to keep you wanting more.

I absolutely love it! I'm fully committed to keeping up with the series until the very last episode.
Initially, I had some doubts about the concept, thinking it seemed repetitive based on what was suggested in the trailer. However, as I delved further into the episodes, I discovered that the drama is remarkably unique and it unfolds a compelling narrative that keeps me engaged. The performances by the cast are nothing short of outstanding-each actor truly brings their character to life, incorporating depth and emotion that makes every scene impactful. Additionally, hats off to the film production team; they've done a stellar job with the editing, which enhances the overall viewing experience.
I genuinely believe you'll find immense enjoyment in it once you start watching.
What sets this K-drama apart from many others is the absence of the typical love triangle that we often see. Instead, the dynamics between the main characters are approached in a refreshing manner that's quite rare for the genre, making their interactions feel more genuine and relatable.
Moreover, the action and fight scenes are integrated seamlessly into the storyline. They don't just serve as mere spectacles; they actually contribute to character development and plot progression. The unique cartoonish graphic style adds a whimsical touch that contrasts with the high-stakes moments, infusing a delightful sense of humor that enhances the overall enjoyment of the show.drama.

Actor Lee Min-ho, what kind of person are you?? How perfectionist you are! OMG, I'm so proud of you, how from time to time you always choose amazing projects. After falling in love with the super excellent "Pachinko", I can't help myself from two timing this feeling because I'm falling in love like crazy with this new one.. the feeling of "Je t'aime passionnement a la folie".
Just like "Pachinko" that has unique opening, I also like the fresh opening of "When the Stars Gossip".
It's a rare series that we can't blink our eyes while watching it or we want to repeat some scenes we might not watch carefully because each scene is so well made.
It's the combination of delicate artistic surprises.. so beautiful like we were in an art exhibition feeling, and the promising intriguing story in which each character has their own sides of lives to understand and psychological layers to study. It's promising because I like to study the psychological layers of the characters while connecting them to the thread of their life backgrounds.
I believe it's gonna be a rich experience following this series to the end. I have a positive feeling it's a masterpiece.

I gather from the news accounts on line that GOSSIP is losing audience week by week. And I grant that, so far, at least, it does not compete with the highly popular romantic rollercoasters, such as LOVE NEXT DOOR and QUEEN OF TEARS. Also, the most engaging romantic entanglement thus far dramatized is between two supporting characters on the ground: Lee El and Kim Joo-hun. But cliffhangers there are: plot contrivances to be resolved, love stories that will develop, and a wicked, overbearing patriarch overdue for comeuppance. This series is reported to have been extremely costly to produce, even if, or because, so much of it takes place within the zero-gravity confines of a space station. Even though the orbit of the ratings is degrading and the suits who fronted the $30 million may be weeping bitter tears, I am invested enough in what might attract Lee Min-ho and Kong Hyo-jin to each other, and what might keep them apart, that I plan to hang in there.
