This was so frustrating to watch that I didn't even finish it. They were very biased and mostly showed the men's events. When they did show parts of the women's events they wouldn't even show who ended up winning. So disappointing. It would've been so easy to continue flipping back and forth between the men's and women's event. So easy that it feels like an intentional oversight. Why wouldn't you show who won the women's event when you just finished showing the entire men's event? If they continue making these documentaries I hope they do better. Otherwise they'll continue losing their audience.
They put way to much focus on Ricky Garard. Who was banned for 4 years for using steroids. THAT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. The worst thing you can do in competitive sports is cheat. IT SHOULD BE A LIFETIME BAN. They should have made it right to all the previous competitors, strip him of all his wins and placements and bump everyone up. At one point another competitor states that he would have 7 wins but doesn't because they did not go back and correct this. Make it right!
I'm not sure i want to watch the next one if they give Ricky Garard all this screen time. Or if they continue with this weak punishment of a 4 year ban. That is not a good enough of a deterrent to stop people from using. But a lifetime ban will do that. So make it the rule. You use You are done!

Despite stopping CrossFit personally a few years ago, I've watched, and continue to watch, every CrossFit documentary. I think they're fantastic promotional pieces for the sport, and encourage people into the gym and to give it a try. It's become a mini ritual to get a few ex-CrossFitters round and do a watch party.
This said, I completely agree with the other reviews that I've seen. This doco was SO poor from a story-telling perspective. There were ample sub-stories that it just didn't get into at all, and focused only on the final podium placers. One of the stories of the games was the sandbag ladder, and the doco didn't even talk about the 'drama' of when the new top bag was brought out.
Glad to hear that there is a new production company coming in for next year, but if you're considering watching this and you're a CF fan, don't. Save your money.

Poor storytelling. The documentary does poor service highlighting the full spectrum of the events, the winners, the performances, and does so in exchange for quick cuts and highlights of biased favorite select few athletes.
Clearly an HQ produced product about what HQ's focus is on, and not objective.
Below: Winners the documentary fails to show or selectively leaves out. These performance are all worth noting and would have been great to see.
Dani Speegle - Winner - Sandbag Arielle Loewen - Winner - Elizabeth Elevated Daniel Brandon - winner - Skill speed medley Alexis Raptis - Winner - Echo Press Lucy Campbell - Winner - Rinse Repeat Ellie Turner - Winner - Hat Trick Lucy Campbell - Winner - Jackie Pro
Jeffrey Adler - Winner - Shuttle To Overhead Nick Mathew - Winner - Skill Speed Medley Guileherme Malheiros - Winner - Sandbag Ladder Jeffrey Adler - Winner - Back nine Lazar Dukic - Winner - Jacki Pro.
Clearly an HQ produced product about what HQ's focus is on, and not objective or in full spectrum. Sad for the athletes and the audience as nobody gets to see the amazing events which actually occur.

I've watched all the doc's about each CrossFit Games and this was by far the worst. There was so many great stories that could have been told about this year's games and they were all ignored. Brooke Wells coming back from injury which is the best story... nothing. They didn't even show the winners of each event. They only concentrated on a handful of competitors and disregarded the rest, even if they won events. I understand this was maybe Tia's final games but only speaking with her, O'Brien, and Horvath, Mederios, Khrennikov, and Garard took away from the documentary. They concentrated on those 6 competitors and not on the actually Games itself. I've loved all the doc's until this one. Very disappointed.
