Twenty years after the mysterious disappearance of Priscilla Belfort, sister of MMA fighter Vitor Belfort, in a case that went on and off the media
during a long period without answers and strange twists that led to nowhere except creating more confusion, this gripping doc-series reveal plenty of
information about the case, the media coverage, the young woman and possible theories as to what may happened to her. Still an open case yet it's not a
frustrating experience to watch; and the most attentive viewer will probably accept one of the possible closures given and nothing beyond that.
The tragedy of a missing person case is that there's never a day of rest as family and friends want to have a sense of closure. Best case scenario the
person is alive, worst case dead and it's all about finding a body. For many of us who only followed the case through the media lens, ever since 2004, it
was felt that some result would come. And then came the family willing to pay a reward, which led to sensational TV programs receiving alarming phone calls
with misleading information; police investigation that led to arrests, forged confessions about a burial place; the lead on Rio drug dealers being involved,
and the chaos was insane. For those interested in following the media scene of the 2000's this is a highly thrilling and informative crime drama special,
very absorbing and detailed.
The creators of it deserve some credit for how the immense material was put together, despite the unusual placing of facts that throws a poignant
theory/story at the final episode rather than showing us in the chronologic order of events. It's effectively used, though, but it's obvious that many
viewers will question why talking about her boyfriend much later on, neither including his name though news outlets already said who was him (the son of an
influent media or politics figure, and his name is probably kept off for fear of a lawsuit. But you can check it on the internet very easily). There's many
shady things that happened yet weren't fully investigated (unusual but very plausible theory).
I think what made this fascinating to watch was getting to know Priscilla and the many stories about her growing up, which weren't known when the case
hit the news. It was important to talk about her depression and different moods after a time she lived abroad in the U. S. then returned, which gives us a lead that also
seemed very likely to have happened, and the closer of an answer that maybe a lot of people don't want to talk or think about. Really hard to accept, but there's also
the chance of no one being involved with her disappearance. You'll be thinking about many possible reasons on why she simply went missing, on her own, and it happens.
As we don't have the actual answer, there's only this great piece about a dramatic emotional journey of a family in the search for truth and answers, which
led them concentrate their efforts in finding other missing people as well, with positive results. With hope, they'll be comforted with a closure. 10/10.
