It's almost so bad it's good. Believe me, even the opening 5 minutes will give you an idea of the hilariously bad the direction of the movie is going. I'll go ahead and call it the "Church" scene. Overacting, bad acting and unusual acting methods from vetted actors. I know Tyler Perry movies... can produce some inconsistent results and performances. The over acting feels like theater, and its script is unrealistic and not relatable. The amount of swearing, screaming and random outbursts of verbal conflicts is every 5 minutes in this movie. But the camera work is definitely is insanely good. So there's that. That's why I have it a '2' and not '1'.
Tyler makes the worse movies about black people.
If you are an actor don't sell yourself for this buffoonery...the way it started I thought was a comedy. Such a waste of time. It never should have been made. My people...We're better than this...this is not entertaining, it's embarrassing and gives black actors and filmmakers a bad rep!
Writers room...Would help so much, maybe hire more talented people to help with your workload...this is like eating White Castle frozen food if I had to compare it to anything. Tyler just doesn't care anymore about his art, like seriously, mea culpa now this, you could care like a little more...Denzel would never be in this or will smith.

This is not a perfect movie but it's definitely not awful. The opening scene kind of sucks you in, and it doesn't really let up. The performances are decent and the country setting is nice. Downside is you know where the storyline is going, and some of the decision making by the characters in the movie is downright dumb. Other than that, I believe it's worth the watch. The run-time is a little long at over 2hrs but it keeps your interest. As long as you don't go in expecting Oscar worthy performances with an Oscar worthy screenplay, you'll be fine. Quite frankly, just watch the movie and enjoy it without expectations!
I am convinced Tyler Perry absolutely hates his people and Black women. His writing depicts Black people in the worst light and makes a mockery of our culture while enforcing negative stereotypes for the world to laugh at or along with him. This movie was a waste of time and as much as I want to see the actors and Tyler Perry succeed, this was mediocre writing, acting and directing at best. Megan Goode and Debbie Morgan were the highlights (I fell in love with the both of them in Eve's Bayou) and still could not save the movie from his terrible writing. This movie is best described as a mix of Sistas meets Real Housewives of Atlanta which both are garbage.
Well that escalated quickly!!!
Tyler Perry does it again! As usual Tyler continues to be a part of black stereotypes and bad behaviour crew. Perfect man protecting the poor abused woman against the real bad man (not just flawed). It always has to be some over the top nonsense.
The actors always turn into these caricatures of themselves. Megan somehow turned into a female Rambo. Her best friend turns into the ghetto friend who keeps it real. And of course Corey is the angry, abusive black man. No need to address his generational trauma because that doesn't create enough drama. His acting in this is something to be desired in my opinion....
Good Lord, some originality would really be great after all these years but I guess TP writes what people want to watch.
