I truly was hoping I would be able to side with the high reviews for this show, but it's just so awful on every level. The animation is bad, the voice acting is bad, the story is bad...it's all bad. I speak Japanese so after the first episode I switched from the English version to the Japanese. While this did improve things it just wasn't worth it for me to hang in on this one. The intros and outros are blatant rip offs of Cowboy Bebop. The only positive I can give it is the artwork/style of it is sleek and nice to look at but a bad show is a bad show.
I gave up 3-4 episodes in. If you know nothing about Suicide Squad or decent Japanese anime you might enjoy this.

You have to watch this anime given expectations of what this is. It's an anime about Suicide Squad in an isekai. This anime is very clearly not taking itself very seriously and not looking to be anything groundbreaking. The more you just play along with the insanity the more fun and enjoy it you'll have.
The plot is fairly simply and standard for an isekai. Nothing revolutionary. As for its faithfulness to the DC source material, I would say it's like fairly loose with the characters. The background and overall feel of the characters stay pretty much in tact, but the writers definitely took liberties with their character personality at times. I would say try not to be a diehard DC fan while watching this. If you are going to get agitated with your favorite characters being different from the Comics, you should probably stay away form this show.
As for the animation for the first season, I will say that the animation is fairly rough for the first 5 episodes, especially that 5th episode (yikes). However, it would seem the animation budget went into the last 5 episodes, as Wit Studios really kicked it up a notch with the animations, so don't get to discouraged about the animations after watching the first 5 like most of the reviewers.
Overall, it was a fun 10 episodes to watch. It doesn't take itself very seriously and neither should you when watching it. If you have nothing to watch and want something to pass the time, I would say give this a crack especially given it's currently only 10 episodes.

When I saw this as "recently added" last year on Max, I was so hyped! I love DC, and I like (not love...just like) anime. I just started watching the Harley Quinn cartoon last year, and in general, I do love my DC animations since I grew up with them. They were a big part of my childhood. I was expecting this anime to have a DC vibe gone Japanese. You know the best of both worlds. The voice acting was pretty good. But my least favorite was Harley's.
In the middle of the show I thought to myself "Sooo um what the hell was the point of the Suicide Squad???!". This anime could've replaced the DC characters with any other characters from any universe. For me, I think that this anime would've been so much fun and engaging if they took villains (well-known or overlooked) from multiple genres of anime and had them in an Isekai setting.
I hoped the humor would be like that of the Harley Quinn animation! But there is some decent humor in this anime, and I did laugh out loud a few times. I was somewhat entertained, but I wanted that DC feel from it, you know?? That WAS the reason why I watched this anime. There were thrills and there was tension, but I couldn't get that vibe from the anime. I saw it, but I was not feeling it, you know? I enjoyed the fantasy world they were in (yeah I can't remember the name), and the storytelling was interesting, but at the end I no longer cared about the anime as a whole. I signed out.
Overall I was entertained but not completely satisfied. I could've skipped this one.

"Suicide Squad Isekai" is a unique fusion of the Suicide Squad's chaotic energy with the fantastical elements of an isekai world. The series stands out for its unique premise, stylish animation, and silly humor mixed in. Harley Quinn's voice actor shines brilliantly, bringing a dynamic and energetic performance that captures Harley's manic charm and carefree nature. It blends a bit of the classic Harley Quinn that old-school fans are used to with the modern style that was made famous by Margot Robbie.
In general, the voice acting for all the characters so far is well done. The story is decent though ultimately it's the humor and crazy antics of the squad that make it an entertaining series.
Overall, "Suicide Squad Isekai" is a fresh and fun take on the franchise, well worth a watch for fans and newcomers alike. I say give it a shot!

Coming from someone who enjoys James Gunn's Suicide Squad and watches a lot of anime, let me say it doesn't do either well. It was like watching a Saturday morning cartoon with animation only passable for children. The fight scenes were clunky and uninspired. The story was rushed and frankly uninteresting. And the characters were widdled-down versions of their DC selves. Was it terrible? No. God knows I've seen worse shows. But it was grotesquely mid. I relate it to Nickelback who tried to mix hard rock and country and couldn't really do either. So yeah, this show is for children and Nickelback fans. You decide which one you are.

- CuriosidadesThe squad includes Clayface. This is odd in that a bomb wouldn't kill him. He can just pull himself back together. Unless he has a corrosive payload instead of a bomb.
