This is one of those movies that unfortunately never get much better than the first 10 minutes. Unfortunately the lack of any real script kills it. It's like they had the decent idea 'lets make a movie about fat zombies', but unfortunately they had no scripting skills beyond that idea to actually use that concept much in the movie, or even wring a few decent jokes from it.
The best thing about it are the performances by a couple of the girls, although generally most of the actors are acceptable bar a couple who probably shouldn't be actors at all. Oh, also a few of of the 'commercials' and headlines were amusing.
It's just a shame more time wasn't spent thinking about the concept and how to make it work, because there were a couple of decent moments earlier on I enjoyed, and liked where I thought it was headed. But those turned out to be the high points of the whole thing.

Well with a title as "Fat Ass Zombies" (aka "American Zombieland"), I must admit that I didn't really have much of any expectations for this 2020 movie from writers George Bennett, Christopher De Maria and Brave Matthews. But still, with it being a zombie movie, of course I had to sit down and watch it.
I saw that Thomas Calabro was in the movie, although I don't really understand why he was listed that high on the cast list, because he was in the movie for not even five minutes.
Now, "Fat Ass Zombies" is a low-budget zombie movie, no doubt about it. But the movie was actually surprisingly entertaining and enjoyable, given the storyline and the fact that the movie was made with love by people that clearly had an interest in the zombie genre.
Was the movie generic? You bet it was. But it is one of those type of low-budget movies that are actually good and wholeheartedly fun to watch.
The zombie make-up was a mixed bag of nuts, however. Some of the zombies had definitely adequate zombie make-up and prosthetics, while others were just horrible to look at with pale-painted facial make-up and very little else. But it actually works out well enough for the movie. And I guess it was because the movie wasn't taking itself serious enough for it to be an issue.
The acting in "Fat Ass Zombies" - that title still doesn't really lay well with me - was adequate, and it was clear that people were enjoying themselves and having fun making and participating in the movie.
"Fat Ass Zombies" was a surprise and actually a fun addition to the zombie genre. While it is no contender for "Shaun of the Dead", this was still enjoyable enough for what it turned out to be. I am rating "Fat Ass Zombies" a six out of ten stars.

WOW. I expected some low-budget nightmare, but this was an awesome flick! Yeah, it got a little corny and cheesy--but I think that was the point. The acting, the editing, the storyline, and the effects were so good. I definitely hope to see more like this from the director, and will be keeping tabs on some of the actors as well. A must-see if you like quirky zombie films!
Oh this is just a fun movie. No I don't want to bore you with a summary - since IMDb puts one up.
Quirky, campy, cheesy....but a fun zombie movie. You can tell this will be one of those b-movie cult films eventually. Some of the lines they are are great.
All the actors were very good, they all fit so well in character. No idea if they were paid or family and friends, but it works.
Clothing/costume, another win. Script was very funny, all stereotypes and they worked great.
Kudos to the dude running in the opening scene. And to the cinematographer, you get a gold star for no shaky-cam! Keep it up.
So yes, grab the popcorn, a beer, wine, or all the above and watch this...it's worth it.

We weren't expecting much. We figured, cheesy, low-budge, zombie flick. But it's surprisingly entertaining! They're not "trying too hard". It's just fun and stupid and the acting ain't half bad. Lol! Give it a shot. For real.
