They said this was an adaptation,. But the characters from the original novel were misrepresented, and the story's emotional core was stripped away. Let me tell you Three ways this movie butchered the novel it adapted:
1.) Mischaracterize:
Kim Dokja, the protagonist was made as a superhero who saves others. He was never a savior. He didn't love the world he loved a few people in it, and that was enough. The live action twists him into a cliché hero, ignoring the nuance that made this story powerful.
Yoo Sanggah was changed to become a healer in this movie. She wasn't written to be a healer. She was a fighter, strong, assertive, and deeply grounded in her own agency. Changing her into a passive support role erases everything she stood for. It reduces her to a stereotype she was created to break.
2.) Misrepresent - They took a story about personal pain and chosen bonds, and turned it into a generic save-the-world action flick instead.
3.) Mishandle - They mishandled the CGI so badly, it felt rushed and unpolished like a low-budget green screen project rather than a world-ending scenario.
But even if, for argument's sake, this wasn't an adaptation, the film would still fall flat. CGI is painfully bad, with green screen effects that look straight out of a low-budget fan film. The system texts, which should've mimicked a game-like interface, came off more like karaoke subtitles. And the script? Awkward, stilted, and unnatural. The dialogue lacks rhythm, the pacing drags, and emotional scenes feel forced. Even without comparing it to the source material, this movie would still struggle to stand on its own.

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint is my personal favorite novel of all time. I did not need a perfect screen adaptation, but when announced, I did at least hope for one that kept the important story elements in tact. This adaptation failed to follow the original plot, or turn the new plot into something that matched or exceeded the original's storytelling. There will be no spoilers, however, if you're a fan of the original, this movie is not for you. In trying to make a movie that could appeal to everyone, it lost its appeal to the audience it should've been making it for-the fans of the original. If you are not a fan of the original, it's be more worthwhile to check it out then watch this movie.
The reason I did not rate it one star is because while this movie is by all accounts bad, someone out there still may enjoy it. I'm sure someone out there enjoyed this movie, even if it was only one person. By all accounts, reading the novel or the manhwa is superior. If you want "Omniscient Reader", those two are leagues ahead. However, if you want something entirely different cosplaying under the same name (or you're a fan desperate for content), then this movie may satiate your desire.

Alright as a novel reader, Im dissapointed in this Live Action. No because wdym the mc(Kim Dokja) HATES TWSA?? When that novel literally saved him?!?! And made Yoo Sangah a healer when she hates to be one of those. Im not hating on the cast, its eh ok but the HUGE MISCHARACTERIZATION is not it yknow? They are guns but atleast they are still swords, but is the budget really that low?? I mean bihyung?? THATS NOT MY BRO BIHYUNG..... I would have rate this more because they brought back the swords but quickly change when saw YSA as a healer, i just can't please don't do this to my gurl YSA. And the Kdj's fav character is Heewon???? Danm no way in fkin duck, i just can't.
I'm sure the actors and staffs involved must have worked hard. But as a fan of novel and manhwa, this live action adaption was bad just bad. Changing the original story and plot points of the novel for the live action was a really bad decision. I don't know what the directors and writers were thinking.
This Does not even deserve a 1 star rating from me.

Overall, this is just garbage, they just changed everything about the characters that it doesn't make sense at all. Kdj hate the novel? And all those gun and staff ... why bother adapting it to LA if they can't even capture the core of the novel . Seriously, the ones who give 10 are just actor fans.
