First I want to say that this is a messed up world where perverts pay to watch children being abused.
I found this movie difficult to watch, but important to bring public awareness of catfishing. I knew going in that it would be hard to watch. So I tried to brace myself for things I would most likely see, or things that would be implied. But there is no way to prepare yourself for knowing that a child is being abused. It's just heartbreaking.
I've followed Cush Jumbo's career since her role in The Good Wife.
She plays Krissy's (Tia May Watts), the abducted girl's mother. I thought she did a good job. I think I heard her British accent creep in just once, very slightly.
I thought everyone was good in their roles, and the acting was above average for an LMN/Lifetime movie.
I don't care how savvy we think we are, catfishing is getting more and more dangerous. We must all be vigilant.
The ending made me emotional.

I thought this was a good movie and I pray will teach youngsters about the dangers of social media, I thought the acting was good throughout despite all the other negative reviews on here. Cush Jumbo has been in a lot of excellent British dramas and is a good actor even with an American accent. Tia May Watson was also very good playing the unfortunate victim in this movie.
The one question I have is why all the actors are acting American when the they are all British and the movie was filmed in Norfolk in the UK. Why not just have it as a movie based in The UK?
I'm keen to hear from Americans the thoughts on The Brits American accents.
Give the movie a chance.

The daughter was a brat the first ten minutes she didn't do anything but have an attitude. The mom was clueless the only person with some sense was the brother. Lifetime could've done better with this movie it also played out very slowly took a while to get to the point. The cops were the usual slow moving lifetime cops who don't have a clue and really don't try to help. I just kept watching like (-_-) . Sad what happened but they all got on my nerves. It was very corny but show it to your pre teens it'll make them second guess talking and meeting up with strangers if you can get past the cringe.
The message it's portraying is clear and shows the horror of social media. How they can safeguard the internet appears to be impossible. It's scary to know that children can easily be manipulated and believe everything at face value. Evil people prey on the vulnerable and these days, they have the tools to make it easy for them to carry out their depraved crimes.
So yes the film opens your eyes to the fact, in my opinion the acting in this film is dire! The characters didn't portray any genuine emotion, it wasn't gripping, it was a plodding beginning, middle and end film but happy of course she survived.

This film takes a sobering look at the so-called Dark Web, and it becomes highly technical with such terms as "sock pocket" and "Tor onion." In the placid community of Haverbrook, an unsuspectiing fifteen-year-old is kidnapped by a deranged "catfisher," who streams her period of captivity to a psychopathic clientele on the internet.
Young Krissy Meyer is the victim of the kidnapping. Her devoted mom Mo and her loving brother Robbie desperately assist the FBI in discovering the whereabouts of their loved one.
There is nothing I can add to the review of user "Chartreuse1," who has provided a superb recap of this powerful film. One of the points made by the reviewer was that the cast was entirely British. It was a amazing to observe how successfully the actors adopted American accents for members of the Haverbrook community.
