Resumo
Reviewers say 'House of David' is lauded for its captivating storytelling, stunning cinematography, and strong performances, especially the portrayal of King David. The series balances historical accuracy with cinematic flair, creating an immersive experience. However, some criticize creative liberties and historical inaccuracies, which they believe dilute the original story. Despite these concerns, many appreciate the show's engaging and visually appealing approach to the biblical narrative.

One of the best series I've watched
I love biblical adaptations and old time dramas like this. Let me just say that this show totally blew me away. I was completely riveted throughout, especially the latest episode 8! Wow, what an episode and conclusion. Even though we all know what happens in the story according to the Bible, to watch it played out so amazingly depicted on screen really gives you a visualization and appreciation of what emotions were going through people at that time. This final episode had me cheering for David, and it was like I was watching a Stanley Cup final hockey game. It was that good, at least for me. I can't wait to watch more episodes, because there is an awful lot to the story of King David.
As the disclaimer at the beginning of the show states, there might be some inconsistencies with the biblical account. However, it's mostly on track and is an excellent use of your time if you want to learn the story. It's especially good if you are studying the Bible and old testament.
Everything about this production, from the sets, costumes, acting and direction, is all top of the line and very professionally done. This show and The Chosen series are blockbusters.

Stunning
Stunning work . Epic drama in a good way. Not my religion but it doesn't make it less enjoyable. Would be a pity if people are reviewing for or against on religious grounds, it will put people off and do the show a disservice I think. Really liked the filming and the colours of everything . Lots of high quality actors that don't overplay. Storyline is great for someone that is only familiar with the basic David and Goliath story. Only complaint I have is the cutting between child David and adult David bit jarring as they look nothing alike. Thoroughly enjoyed the rest so I'll forgive it 9 3/4 stars so far.
Were strong female characters needed?
There is much to love about this production, but Michal teaching David to read? Michal giving David the big motivational speech before he went off to slay Goliath? Saul's wife clearly a dominant personality compared to Saul, orchestrating all kinds of political machinations behind his back? The two princesses trotting off to the battlefront to "awaken" the king? It seems like in modern storytelling behind every strong male character there now needs to be a stronger female character teaching him how to be strong. I have nothing against strong female characters--in stories that involve strong female characters. The story of David involves none.
I am utterly enthralled by this series!!
I know well the story of King David and still this series has me on the edge of my seat as we get to delve deeper into both Saul's and David's story, as interpreted by the writer's perspective. The series presents ideas regarding societal influence and human behaviors that we may have never considered while simply reading the scriptural text. I absolutely love that there's not an actor that I've seen anywhere before and yet they all brilliantly portray their characters. I certainly hope that we can expect several seasons of this series because it would be cruel to stop at season 1! Well done! 10/10 for me!
Actually Very Good
As for as Biblical series go, the first three episodes is one of the best I've seen so far.
They caveat every episode with a statement that some drama has been added to fill out the story however they have tried to remain biblically accurate overall. Yes there is some additional dialogue and aspects not expressely stated in scripture however I don't think it contradicts anything written. The show is not meant to be a substitute for actually reading the Bible, it's supposed to be entertainment based on the Biblical story. Largely they've done a pretty good job.
I see some very petty complaints from those giving bad reviews like Samuel being called a "Seer" rather than a "Prophet". Yet the bible literally says in those days prophets were called seers (1 Samuel 9:9).
Enjoy it for what it is, an entertaining biblical adaptation.

- CuriosidadesKing David is described in 1 Samuel 16:12 - "And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy [admoni], and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he." Strong's Lexicon H132 explains the meaning of the word 'admoni,' which is translated in English to 'ruddy.' "The Hebrew word "admoni" is used to describe a reddish or ruddy complexion. It is often associated with a healthy, vibrant appearance and is used in the Bible to describe individuals with a distinct physical characteristic."
