Six pieds sur Terre

I am not religious so I can't verify any of the parts of this that reach into the religion in question but it didn't feel like preaching or pushing and that was good.

On a similar subject to the brilliant 'Departure', it nonetheless, isn't quite the same and therein lies the best part of this particular story.

When you begin watching a film and can't stand the protagonist in the slightest but end up totally respecting them, admiring them and even liking them, then the story has substance and has reached the viewer, not from sentiment or nonsense, but for very real reasons of humanity and grace.

This is an excellent watch. It travels a little slow in the middle, burdened by the injected almost romance, but fortunately moves on and becomes a real gem.

It's difficult to explain why some films grab you from the start. There is something in the actors, the story, the dialogue that just keeps you going in a time when there is so much bad, really bad movie and series material.

This film moved me deeply. It shows a ver real story of cultural confusion between where you come from and where you are meant to go.

The characters are humane, loveable, full of dignity in the simplest ways. I would much prefer to enjoy an arab mint tee with any one of them before soending any time with the tech moguls or politicians of our time.

It's a beautifully told story about death, religion, love, identity, family and the labyrinth we confront when trying to become who we always were inside.

I loved it. It keeps playing over in my mind like a love song.

I hope to see great things in the future from the protagonist. He is magnetic while not having any of the expected qualities for stardom today. So much emotion in the tiniest gestures.

When I heard about the film i was told that it has a unique story and I can't deny that the story of a teen living a worthless life running after his desires without considering anything to have an obligatory turnover in his life is a basic story but what is unique is the thing that turns his life over.

Our protagonist (Sofyan) needed to get an official work contract to not go back to Algeria which he thinks is the worst thing that could ever happen. He then orks with a frien of his father as a man that washes the deadbodies before being buried in the Islamic way.

Along the film we see intersting dynamics between him and "El hajj" it have been directed in a good way and the other face of the same coin is "Morad" he is new to Islam and too strict because of lack of experience.

The religious part of the film has alot of problems and as a muslim i can confirm that like the drinking part of having the Quran it doesn't stick up like it should be and that art of the film hadn't got the enough research it should have got. At some point you question that if anything has really happpened to him.

Overall nice topic but and a bit of wasted potential.
