There's way too much of these types of shows now. In an ideal world they would take the best elements of all these and put them together to make a brilliant series.
There's so many holes in the plot and so many unbelievable things happening considering the prestige of the family and their enterprise. If it wasn't for Tom Hardy I may have switched off before the end.
I was stunned to find out the Pierce Brosnan was Irish, that accent is wild. Same as Helen Mirren and her ridiculous character.
Too much of this stuff is designed for the yanks, the Cotswolds isn't around the corner from London.

MobLand is a fantastic film that completely exceeded my expectations. The story is gripping, the atmosphere intense, and every scene feels raw and real.
Tom Hardy delivers an outstanding performance - cold, calm, and terrifying at the same time. He brings depth to his character in a way few actors can. The pacing is tight, the cinematography is beautiful yet gritty, and the tension builds constantly.
If you enjoy crime thrillers with strong acting and a dark tone, Mob Land is a must-watch.
10/10.

This show is one of those shows, that if never existed, people would still feel as if they have seen it. That is how many times a thing such as this has already been seen, and truth to be told, previously done in quite better ways and versions of itself..
Not an awful show, other than dreadful irish accents and some quite lousy, convenient writing, especially near and by the end, it is not bad, only issue, that is becoming bigger and bigger issue lately, is that it is generic, in instances painfully, borderline slop.
Pierce Brosnan more and more looks and sounds, shortly said resembles, that hypothetical "thing" where good old Jean-Luc Picard, in his old days 'Picard' starts a gangster organisation in his vineyard back in France, while also pretending to be Irish (most funny part is that Pierce was born in Ireland), and Tom Hardy is way better "Data" than that (maybe Taboo should be renewed)..
Shows like this are the product of those who don't know when the time to stop has come, we have seen this pattern past decade over and over again with creators who peaked in their creativity and skill a long time ago, now attempting to reach those peaks again, while continuing Faded Creativity Circus..

I'm Irish and have lived in Ireland all my 52 years. Why is Pierce Brosnan not able to do a convincing accent in this, when he's also, you know, Irish? It is so cringeworthy to hear. They've obviously asked him to go full mob Irish and he can't do it justice AT ALL. His scenes with Helen Mirren - also delivering a terrible Irish accent - come across like comic relief plonked in the middle of some genuinely interesting and exciting work from the rest of the cast.
Thankfully they only take up about a quarter of screen time, so my high rating is all for Tom Hardy, who yet again, serves up a nuanced and believable character. He's mesmerising to watch. He almost underplays it (which makes Brosnan's overacting even more jarring). I'm intrigued to see where this goes.

Tom Hardy. That's it.
Great to see him back in something substantial after years wasting his talent in those godawful super hero films or turgid biker movies.
Anyway, dubious accents from Mirren and Brosnan notwithstanding, this is very good stuff so far. Slow burn sure, but I'm loving the controlled menace from Hardy - his understated anti-hero is like comfort food.
Good story telling and nice performances from Paddy and others. And I'm glad the Guy Ritchie signature style is dialled back.
Really looking forward to future eps.
Every director and producer out there, hire Tom Hardy, please. He's so damn good.

- CuriosidadesThe series was originally intended to be a prequel to Ray Donovan. In February 2024, Paramount+ released the premise of the series, which was to be titled the Donovans, stating, "With the most powerful clients in Europe, The Donovans will see family fortunes and reputations at risk. Odd alliances unfold, and betrayal around every corner; and while the family might be London's most elite fixers today, the nature of their business means there is no guarantee what's in store tomorrow." The story was believed to be centered around Ray Donovan's character, which would explore the rise and formation of his criminal enterprise. Guy Ritchie was named as the director and executive producer. In October 2024, Paramount+ announced that the spinoff idea was called off and the show was rewritten to become its own standalone series with no narrative connection to Ray Donovan. Guy Ritchie remained on the creative team.
