Amazon Original's new pilot, Bosch, puts it all together: great writing, generous and subtle acting across the full range of characters, moody LA location set-ups (what one reviewer called using the location as a character), razor sharp editing and other production values. This is one of the best "TV" show I have seen in quite awhile. And for a pilot, it is a daring adventure into series-level plot arcs, and not just a pretty package wrapped up at the end of the show.
Connelley and Company's choice of Titus Welliver is particularly satisfying. A well-known face, but as far as I know, never a lead, and for that matter, never much of a sympathetic character, Welliver is deeply invested in the anti-hero character of Harry Bosch. Not just a film noir tough guy, but a deep soul revealed only in tiny bits that never bog down the narrative or the suspense.
Amazon could do far worse than to line this show up for 12-20 episodes in the next season!

Wonderful realization of a long-time literary favorite. I don't know what that other reviewer's problem is with Titus Welliver - whom I had previously only thought of as "that guy from Lost". He is a fine actor and a credible Harry Bosch. I very much look forward to this series. Fine casting, intelligent writing and wonderful locations. When I saw Harry's house and balcony and heard the jazz music, I knew we were on the right track. Frank Morgan's Lullaby. Awesome.
Well, since IMDb requires me to write more, I would recommend that interested parties check out Michael Connelly's web site and Facebook page for an account of his total commitment with and enthusiasm for this project, and some background goodies For instance, the drunken Santa in an early scene is played by Connelly himself, with soup in his beard to simulate puke. Glamorous!

I really enjoyed this and really hope amazon decided to go ahead and make the full season.
Titus Welliver looks nothing like how I imagined Bosch to appear however it didn't worry me because he is a great actor and captured Harry's mood perfectly.
The supporting cast was excellent particularly Edgar and I noticed some strong actress's in the surrounding roles which bodes well for it's future. Harry's LA was very nicely captured on film particularly his home.
A great start please give us more.

I really hope this show gets picked up. I am a huge fan of the books and would probably watch it even if Clint Eastwood was butchering another epic Connelly character. Good story line and great casting. Very smart move to have Connelly involved in the process. I was excited to see Jamie Hector and Lance Reddick from the Wire cast. Titus is great as Bosch. I feel like he was over acting a little and trying too hard to be tough/cool (tilting his head way too much). But in his defense, anyone who has read the Bosch series has his own version of Harry deeply embedded in his mind. I know this show will evolve into an instant classic if given the chance. I vote for more please!!
The actor playing Bosch is unknown to me but he captures the essence of Connelly's character. I love the way they've recreated Harry's cantilevered home over the canyon. Love the jazz as well.
Hope they work Kiz Rider into the series as well as Maddie, Harry's daughter; and Micky Haller. The guy who plays Irvin Irving is a sinister looking dude. I liked him in the 'Intelligence" series this year.
Hope to see more Bosch novels soon. Want to see how he keeps going after his mandatory retirement. Will he groom and mentor a replacement? Will Maddie enter the police academy and follow in her father's footsteps?
For now, kudos! Keep up the great start!

- CuriosidadesWhen Bosch states his full legal name on the witness stand, he says Hieronymus Bosch. Hieronymus Bosch was an early influential Netherlandish painter. Bosch's work often dealt with dark and gruesome depictions of hell as well as fantastical imagery. Art historians have described Bosch's work as being 'pessimistic', 'difficult to translate to a modern point of view' and 'insightful into man's deepest desires and darkest fears.'
- Erros de gravaçãoWhen Doctor Golliher unearths the found skull, he remarks that the "lower mandible" is missing. A doctor would know that there is no such thing, the bone itself is the mandible.
- Versões alternativasThe original pilot that debuted in 2014 was reworked prior to the 2015 series debut. Some casting changes were made (Mimi Rogers replaced Amy Price-Francis), some scenes were added, and plot points reworked (a reporter character who was originally Bosch's dupe becomes a more realistic Internet age reporter.
