Summary:
As a Marvel and MCU fan, I immediately recognized the influences, especially in episode 6. This TV series might just be my favorite-it's good but has room to grow. It feels like the beginning of something bigger, sprinkled with inspiration from comic book legends like Lev Gleason and Stan Lee. Drawing from old public-domain characters and the golden age of comics, it modernizes classic stories while staying true to the source material. Story-wise, I'd rate it between 7 and 7.9/10, but the characters pull you in quickly.
Take Clock, for example-a total maniac who goes in guns blazing while being wanted by the police. Despite that, he's determined to save his city, which is overrun by a mafia empire called Cerberus. And that's just the setup from one episode!
Story Plot:
The introduction of superheroes gave me CW Arrowverse vibes, but with far more serious consequences. I finished the entire series, and trust me-important characters die. No spoilers, but the stakes are high.
The story spans multiple Earths, with a time-policing organization called the Time Guards investigating an anomaly devouring every Earth in the multiverse-except the first Earth. Their leader, Kol-Zor, assembles a team of surviving heroes to delay "what is coming" and protect the first Earth.
The shifting protagonists might seem confusing at first, but each episode gradually builds momentum, showcasing characters with unique skills and powers.
Verdict:
If you're looking for a quick trip into the golden age of comics but aren't in the mood to read, The Beginning is a great alternative. While it doesn't stick entirely to the source material, it's still a solid adaptation.
At just $0.99 USD on Amazon, it's affordable and a great way to kick off an entire connected universe. It's impressive how one person managed to create something this entertaining. The LoungeVerse is off to a strong start, and after the cliffhanger I just witnessed, I can't wait to see what's next.
Negatives:
-Limited voice acting.
-Facial animations need more polish, though it's not a dealbreaker.
-Too many characters introduced without enough backstory or development.
-Some episodes are too short.
Overall Rating:
8/10-For a series made inside Grand Theft Auto V and offered at a low price, it's worth watching in your free time.
