I really wasn't expecting Happy Face to hit as hard as it did. It's honestly a great show... emotional, intense, and just super well done. Annaleigh Ashford is amazing, but Dennis Quaid totally steals the spotlight. His performance is seriously something else.
It's marketed as a crime drama, but it feels also like a psychological thriller. No gore or jump scares, just a constant tension that builds. It touches on themes like love, abandonment, and manipulation in a way that really sticks with you.
I heard it got canceled, and honestly... that might be fine. This season felt complete on its own. I'm not sure where they'd even take it next. Still, I highly recommend it. It's perfect for a late-night binge. Intriguing, thoughtful, and genuinely gripping.

Im having trouble thinking of any redeeming qualities in this movie. This just wasn't entertaining. The characters are all mysterious and none have any motivations or personality. The lead character and a few others tried to put on some good acting and emotion into their scenes but they can only do so much with this plot and the poor pacing. I didn't care for any of them or what happens to them. Why was 50 cent even in this movie? I still don't know.
I guess it's frustrating because the premise is fine and the concept is interesting (although done many times before), and so it's so much wasted potential.
The ending I believe is supposed to be open-ended or something? But nobody cares, so why not just give us a proper ending?
This movie was not entertaining, but I give it a 3 because some of the actors tried.

I'm both entertained and confused. The pacing is really off. Events pop out of nowhere, subplots suddenly become irrelevant, and continuity seems to take several hits. There's a swarm of brand new faces who mostly seem to have unclear motivations. It's a rather large cast but most have few lines and not much character development. Why are they here? We never really find out. I just finished the movie a few minutes ago and can't remember most of their names. So many plot holes.
Nonetheless, the action scenes are pretty great, the CGI is phenomenal, and Tom Hardy delivers as always. A lot of cringy scenes and lines but overall entertaining. I wouldn't recommend or rewatch, but I'm not mad I watched it.
