Billy Bob is his usual great self, and the story line that follows the oil industry is the reason to rate the show with more than 4 stars, if it were not for the dumb blonds giving dumb blonds a bad name. On the other hand, the opening scene in season one was intense and a great watch. However, there are many reviews that correctly point out that the dumb blond side of this story is so over the top that it gives comedy relief a really bad name. The wife and daughter ad nothing to the show, and are only worth a fast forward to get away from anything they have to say. One more thing, the mustachioed Sam Elliott's character of a living corpse watching the sunset each evening is not gripping, it just tiresome. And, I do not care what's for dinner.

I'm a big fan of Gilligan, but this thing does not pass the smell test. A typical episode 1 where everyone is the "walking Dead" type. Not fun, not original. This series could have been much better if all the zombie types had come alive via a pod. Now, that was a good movie. I did not want to write anymore because the series does not deserve it, but there is a word minimum. Sorry.
