OMG... she is quite possibly THE worst matchmaker ever. Very materialistic and superficial despite her mission to find her clients deeper connections. Have been hate watching her for years. Her own lack of finding a suitable partner should speak volumes. That, and her huge plastic surgery makeover. What the heck. And her track record is specious. One could probably find more appropriate matches by throwing a rock in a crowd while wearing a blindfold. So, I guess I would say it is like watching an accident on the freeway. And... for sure, I feel like if I were to want a love match I would take her advice and do the opposite.
This show is very Hollywoody... these folks look WAAAY too good to be in the situation they are in. I think they are trying to simulate the family dynamic found in Ozark. The caliber of acting and tone of production can't quite approximate that, unfortunately. Not really sure where this show is going but I can only imagine they are going to run this into the ground. As far as the believability factor for this show it is quite low. The entire thing has a kind of fetish feeling to it, eco-terrorists on the lam, tourists slumming through second- and third-world locations. And... why does the daughter suddenly have blonde hair in season two? Peroxide in the jungle?
I sincerely wish I could have given this 11 stars. Can't tell you how many times I've seen this movie. The lore of the family, eccentricity, and deep individuality of the characters. It always sends me. The last two minutes of the film obliterate and send me to places... I guess the thing I like the most about the film is that it engages you to think. To think about your own dreams and wishes, confronting your own fears, societal expectations, taking risks, and finding meaning in life. This is probably the best film Christine Lahti has ever done. Such a fine actress. I will probably see it many more times before my own journey is completed.
