Ogni maledetto fantacalcio presents itself as a lighthearted comedy, but from the very beginning it's clear that the film borrows heavily from more famous titles (think The Hangover), with fantasy football as its thin connecting thread.
The movie is far too ridiculous to be believable, yet it still tries to force in moments of drama that appear out of nowhere. The pacing feels completely off, and the jokes are predictable from a mile away.
I can understand the attempt to bring Italy's most popular fantasy game to the big screen, but anyone who has ever played knows that every group of friends already has far funnier and more authentic inside jokes than what's on display here.
Maybe the film's unintentional message is that we and our friends are the best actors in the story of our own lives. If that's the case, I'm certain we'd still be better performers than the cast we see on screen.
